Two Condiments from The Gracious Gourmet Earn 2011
Connecticut Specialty Food Association (CSFA) Honors
Bridgewater, CT – Feb. 25, 2011 —The Gracious Gourmet’s lineup of all-natural gourmet condiments recently won two awards in The Connecticut Specialty Food Association’s (CSFA) 10th-annual Product Awards Competition:
The CSFA honored The Gracious Gourmet in past years, but 2011 brought about recognition for two products not previously awarded. Last year The Gracious Gourmet received five awards from the CSFA, including two first place honors and a distinctive second win for the Sweet Tomato Grilling Sauce, which also won in the Barbecue Sauce Category in 2007.
1st Place Outstanding Pesto for Lemon Artichoke Pesto
3rd Place Outstanding Pickle, Relish or Tapenade for Chile Red Pepper Tapenade
“We are honored to be awarded prizes again this year from the CSFA,” says Nancy Wekselbaum, founder of The Gracious Gourmet. “Our flavor profiles are unique and draw inspiration from many culinary traditions. The CSFA does a wonderful job in promoting and supporting specialty products produced in Connecticut and we are proud to be a part of this organization.”
More than 300 specialty food items from Connecticut-based manufacturers competed in 38 categories during the judging in early February. A panel of 40 judges consisting of local media personalities, food writers and chefs from the Connecticut Department of Agriculture’s Farm-to-Chef Program scored products on overall taste, originality, variety and flavor.
“It is always amazing to see the diversity and quality of fine foods made by producers right here in Connecticut,” said Tricia Levesque, CSFA Director. “This competition showcases the best of the best in the state. Not only are these products perfect for everyday meals and parties, but they also make wonderful gifts.”
