Winter news from the Stiff + Trevillion Studio

Completed Projects

Queens Building: Queens is a fresh and contemporary building tucked behind part of the original façade of a 1930s Art Deco cinema on Bishops Bridge Road, Bayswater. Behind the retained facade, sixteen flats have been created above ground floor retail space. The scheme has also re-configured traffic flow to create a new public space on the corner of Westbourne Grove.

The new elevations were designed to compliment the Art Deco styling of the front facade, and have been clad in specially manufactured glazed terracotta panels.

Restaurant News

Jamie's Italian, Sweden: A new venture between Jamie's Italian and the Scandic Hotel Group recently saw the opening to the first Jamie's Italian in Scandinavia designed by Stiff + Trevillion.
Jamie's Italian and Jamie's Bar will serve hotel guests and external customers and maintains the rustic feel of the Jamie's Italian family but with a nod to its Swedish home. The design is influenced by the colours and character of Stockholm and the seminal work of the Gunnar Asplund's designed city Public Library. The palette of materials has been selected to create a warm welcoming and cosy interior.

Planning Wins

City & Liberty: Two major Stiff + Trevillion projects have achieved planning consent in a matter of weeks, Regent House and City & Liberty.
Planning consent was unanimously agreed for the City & Liberty scheme, for the Alchemi Group, by the Westminster planning committee on 2 December with the scheme being described by Cllr Davis as 'exemplary architecture'.

The project will see the demolition of Great Minster North at 33 Horseferry Road SW1 and its replacement with three buildings to include up to 160 flats. Retail is proposed at ground floor, with two flexible retail/restaurant units, basement parking and landscaped communal gardens.

Regent House: Regent House on Edgware Road was given unanimous approval by the Westminster Planning Committee at the end of November.  The new scheme will involve the demolition of the existing block at 112-130 Edgware Road, George Street and Nutford Place W2 and replacing it with with a new part-eight and part-nine storey block for 24 flats, offices and shops.

The redevelopment of this site offers a unique opportunity to create a high quality contemporary and sustainable landmark building and improvements to the surrounding Public Realm.

Stiff + Trevillion appointed by Westway Trust

New Project: Stiff + Trevillion have been appointed by The Westway Trust to lead on the design of the Portobello Village project.  The commission signifies a major step in the Trust’s ambitious ‘Destination Westway’ vision which plans to transform the Westway estate into a premier top ten London destination.

The Portobello Village development opportunity comprises 50,000 sq ft of land, both under and alongside the Westway and encompasses Acklam Road & Village, Portobello Green, Portobello Green Arcade and the Portobello market canopy.  The development is set to deliver new niche retail, creative industries and events space, improvements to the public realm and market, as well as new homes.
