Board of Directors

We would like to welcome Dave Wilson to the position of ‘Performing Arts Worker Representative’ on the Actsafe Board of Directors.

We would also like to announce that Cheryl Nex and Laurie Edmundson have stepped down from their roles as Treasurer, and Performing Arts Worker Representative, respectively. Thank you both for your many years of service on the Board of Directors.

Atlin Arts and Music Festival Outreach
Our Manager of Performing Arts Programs and Services, Don Parman, recently filled in as Lighting Director at the Atlin Arts and Music Festival. He attended safety meetings, concerts, and networked with the amazing arts community of northern BC and the Yukon. To find out more: atlinfestival.ca/

Opportunity to Contribute to our Newsletter

The theme of the Fall edition of Safety Scene is 'Emergency Preparedness' and we would love your contribution. We are seeking industry-based articles around this topic, so if you'd like to submit an idea, feel free to drop our Marketing and Communications Coordinator, Jennifer, an email at jenniferlane@actsafe.ca. If you're interested in advertising in this quarterly newsletter, find more details here.

Hours of Service

Actsafe hosted two ‘Hours of Service’ presentations; one by the Canadian Media Producers Association, and one by the Alliance of Motion Pictures and Television Producers. We will be hosting more soon, so stay tuned!

Proposed Evidence and Decision-Making Policy Amendments


In January 2018, WorkSafeBC’s Board of Directors commissioned an external compensation policy review. The Policy, Regulation and Research Division is releasing a discussion paper with options on proposed amendments to policy to stakeholders for comment. The consultation period for this item will end at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, September 23, 2019.

International Overdose Awareness Day


International Overdose Awareness Day, August 31, spreads the message that the tragedy of overdose death is preventable. Actsafe hosts hands-on training courses where attendees can participate in a practical session learning how to deliver the opioid overdose reversal drug ‘Naloxone’.
