Actsafe's Monthly Updates

Hello <<First Name>>

August marked the end of an extremely busy summer for Actsafe and the arts and entertainment industries. This month, Actsafe travelled to Los Angeles, attended a number of outreach events, and we welcomed a new team member. Read all about what has been happening and what is coming up this September, below.

Actsafe Injury Prevention Week, 2019
Actsafe’s Injury Prevention Week (AIP Week) is back for its second year, September 9th-13th!

This year’s theme is ‘Prevention Through Orientation’ which is highlighting the importance of orientations in keeping workers in the arts and entertainment industries safe.

There will be lots of interesting and engaging activities happening throughout AIP Week for you to get involved in, with lots of prizes to be won too!

To find out more information: www.actsafe.ca/injury-prevention-week/

To get you excited for AIP Week, here are 4 articles on the topic of orientation:

  1. Supergirl: Leading By Example by Amy Laurel Barager, Locations Manager, Supergirl Productions

  2. Beyond Compliance: Making the Most of Training and Orientation by Robin Schooley, Industry Specialist in the Young and New Worker Program, WorkSafeBC

  3. But We’ve Already Had One Orientation; Do We Need Another? by Anand Kanna, Manager of Motion Picture Programs and Services, Actsafe

  4. We Need To Talk About Orientations by Don Parman, Manager of Performing Arts Programs and Services, Actsafe

These articles were written for the Summer edition of Safety Scene, our quarterly newsletter. Keep an eye out for the Fall edition, which will be landing in your inboxes at the end of September.
