Note to Media: Please be advised that this press release supersedes all previous press releases sent with prior talent/player names.
KAPOLEI, HI (January 25, 2016)— Pepsi® is happy to announce the final lineup for the highly anticipated Hang with the Pros event on Friday, January 29, 2016 at Wet ’n’ Wild Hawaii from 5-10p.m., bringing in some of the biggest names in professional football to celebrate the Pro Bowl’s return to Hawaii. Star running back Jamaal Charles, wide receiver, punt receiver, kickoff returner Tyler Lockett, linebacker Clay Matthews, and running back Todd Gurley are all confirmed to attend. Charles will showcase his DJ skills alongside local favorites, DJ Romeo Valentine and DJ Shift.
Charles began his football career while attending Memorial High School, where he led his team to the 5A Division II quarterfinals. He was named District 22-5A Player of the Year in both his junior and senior years. Charles continued his standout career playing at the college level for the University of Texas, where he currently ranks fourth on the list of total rushing yards ever made by a University of Texas player. After 3 years at the college level, Charles chose to relinquish his senior year to become a professional football player. His success as a professional football player is evident in his achievements, which include being the all-time leader in yards per rush among players with more than 1000 rush attempts. When he is not excelling on the football field, he is flaunting his impressive skills as a DJ at the turntable at clubs across the country. Charles loves to DJ, and hopes to make it a full-time career when he retires from professional football.
Lockett’s football career began at Booker T. Washington High School, where he was a prominent member of three state high school champion teams in both football and basketball. While his early years showed Lockett as a triple threat (successful in football, basketball and track), Lockett chose to focus on his football career in college. He attended Kansas State University on an athletic scholarship, and following graduation Lockett became a professional football player in 2015. Lockett’s strong rookie year has only broadened his popularity and recognition.
Matthews attended the University of Southern California, starting as a walk-on member of their football team. Due to his hard work and passion for the game, Matthews was awarded a full athletic scholarship in 2006. He continued to develop in size by committing to weight training and conditioning programs during the off-season. Matthews’ dedication and perseverance came to fruition in 2009, when Matthews achieved his dream of becoming a professional football player. Since then, Matthews has had considerable success, becoming well known for his unparalleled skills as a linebacker.
Gurley attended Tarboro High School, where he was a triple threat athlete in basketball, track, and football. Gurley helped his team win the 2A North Carolina state Championship by scoring four touchdowns in the championship game. He continued his athletic career at the University of Georgia, where he participated in track and football. Following graduation, Gurley became a professional football player in 2015. Gurley’s talent has been widely recognized during his rookie year, earning him several bids for league-wide accolades.
Guests in attendance will also enjoy exclusive access to Wet ‘n’ Wild Hawaii, where select rides Da’ Flowrider, Raging River, Island Racer, the Hawaiian Waters Wave Pool, Big Kahuna, Waimea Whirl, and the Waianae Coaster will be open for all to enjoy from 5p.m. Live entertainment, great music, in addition to Charles’ DJ set, is scheduled throughout the night. Complimentary Pepsi® samples will be offered during the event, and an official step-and-repeat photo station will be set up, allowing guests to capture the legendary night.
