NFL PLAYERS MARSHAWN LYNCH, JOSH JOHNSON, AND MARCUS PETERS ARE COMING TO HAWAII FREE FOOTBALL CAMP IN HONOLULU THIS MONTH
HONOLULU, HI (May 8, 2019) – With a mission of empowerment of underprivileged youth through education, technology, music and sports, Fam 1st Family Foundation announces their Inaugural Hawaii Football Camp with NFL athletes, Marshawn Lynch, Josh Johnson and Marcus Peters. Lynch, Johnson, and Peters are cousins and co-founders of the Oakland, California based foundation started in 2006.
Lynch has played 12 NFL seasons as a running back, is a five-time Pro Bowler, became a Super Bowl champion with the Seattle Seahawks and played the past two seasons with his hometown Oakland Raiders. Johnson has played in the NFL for 10 seasons with multiple teams, finishing this most recent as the starting quarterback of the Washington Redskins. Peters is entering his 5th NFL season as a defensive back. He was named 2015 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year, is a two-time Pro Bowler and played in Super Bowl LIII with the Los Angeles Rams.
Hawaiian Airlines partnered with Fam 1st Family Foundation to bring the one-day camp hosted at Punahou School in Honolulu on May 11th, 2019. Hawaiian Airlines is the Official Carrier of the Oakland Raiders and after learning about the community building Marshawn and his cousins were doing and the impact their camps have made, they expressed interest in working with the trio’s foundation to bring the NFL’ers to Honolulu to share their experiences and skills on and off the field.
The one-day free camp was announced via social media and rosters were completely filled within hours. The camp day will be split into two sessions, hosting over 500 young athletes, beginning at 9 a.m. with kids 6-12 years old, followed with the 13-18 years old age group at 1 p.m. Lynch, Johnson, and Peters, along with other coaches from the mainland, will be in attendance and hands on with the campers, breaking them in to groups and teaching all facets and positions of the game.
“Football is a platform my cousins and I have to impact people all over the world. We’ve been beyond blessed to meet and share our experiences and are excited about the opportunity to be in Honolulu with the local coaches and players. We can’t wait to get on the field to teach, challenge, and learn from the kids. It’s going to be a lot of fun,” said Fam 1st President, Josh Johnson.
In addition to the relationship with Hawaiian Airlines, the foundation leaned on Honolulu based companies Junior Prep Sports, the Barefoot League clothing brand and Rick Rock Productions to bring the camp to fruition.
Foundation Vice President Marcus Peters shared, “We’re hella thankful for the friends we’ve made in Hawaii. This camp is a result of the teamwork and efforts every one gave to be there for the young athletes in Honolulu. Our goal is to make this a yearly thing.”
Each player will receive a meal at the end of their camp session from local restaurants Young’s Fish Market and Ike’s Sandwiches, along with a camp T-shirt compliments of TrainingMask, the leader in the development of performance breathing technologies for fitness and sport. Parents, friends and fans will be able to watch the camp from the Alexander Field stands and shop Lynch’s Beastmode Apparel line at the on-site Pop-Up shop.
Following the camp, there will be a Fam 1st Family Fundraising event at Lucky Strike Social in the Ala Moana Center starting at 8 p.m. Lynch, Johnson and Peters will be on hand as celebrity bartenders. The event is intended for all ages. The fundraiser will give fans a chance to meet the players, participate in a silent auction, and purchase merchandise to benefit the foundation's mission of supporting youth all over the world. General Admission to the fundraiser is $20, VIP is $100 and VIP tables are available for $500. Contact Justine Peterson at (808) 664-1103 for additional information.
