South Asia Heat Health Information Network (SAHHIN), hosted by IRADe and supported by IDRC / CRDI is pleased to invite you to its Fifth Global Master Class on ‘Heat Wave Management Initiatives in India and their Impacts’ by Mr Paras Nath Rai, Member, Bihar  State Disaster Management Authority on 24th February 2022, (4.30 pm -5.30 pm IST).

Master Class on 'Heat Wave Management Initiatives in India and their Impacts'

The masterclass will discuss the heatwave management initiatives in India and their impacts. It will cover the following topics: 

  1. Initiatives and Action taken by National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Govt. of India for Heat Wave Management. 

  2. The Outcomes and Impacts of the Government efforts at National, State and district level.

  3. Long term strategies for building heat resilience. 

Speaker: Mr. Paras Nath Rai

Mr Paras Nath Rai, the speaker of the workshop is a seasoned practitioner, administrator ,trainer and knowledge management expert in the area of Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and disaster management. He has worked with Department of Disaster Management, Government of Bihar as Special Secretary, is member of Bihar State Disaster Management Authority(BSDM), member of National Expert Group of heatwave, NDMA and was a key contributor to the development of Heat Action Plan of Bihar

The SAHHIN network aims to act as a platform to promote scientific interventions, develop action plans and empower capacity building among stakeholders that can enable multi-disciplinary participation in helping South Asian countries to tackle heat stress using better preparedness and planning measures.
