During this busy time of year, Mary Jo and I wanted to reach out and wish you and your family the best! Don't forget that the reason why most of the world stops is to remember the birth of the world's Savior, Jesus Christ!
We're on a CHRISTmas break spending a little time with some of our family and friends and sharing at a few churches along the way! Our work will continue in AR/OK when we get back after the first.
Things in AR/OK are still moving forward. We had some great help in November/December with two regulars, Thom & Mike, and managed to get a lot done, but there is still plenty to do. We've also been blessed to have a couple of locals from CC Frontlines helping here and there and a few others from the area that have helped some and we expect that help to continue, so we praise The LORD for that!
One of our good friends, Thom, who has served with us several times over the years was one of the guys who was helping us before we left town. We met Thom in 2013 while serving in Little Axe, OK after some tornadoes. Thom was traveling from CA to OH to help his mom for a year and then he planned to move on. Through a series of events, he ended up with our phone number and came to help for a couple of days. He ended up staying for six weeks! After arriving in OH, he discovered that his small town had no church that was actually teaching God's Word- the closest one was about forty-five minutes away. Most of the friends he had grown up with had stopped going to church all together. He decided to start a men's Bible study at a local coffee shop. As it grew, several of the wives and some other local women wanted to join in so they expanded. Now six years later, the small Bible study of just two guys has turned into a church plant! Thom just shared with us that as he was leaving CA, he had been floundering in his walk with the Lord. He said it was during our daily Bible study time- the most important part of what we do- that he got back on track with The LORD.
Over the years we've discovered that helping people after disasters is just what The LORD uses to make us more like Him and many folks who've joined us have said the same thing. We always make it a priority to spend time in The Word to see what The LORD has to say to us, and then we go out hopefully changed from the inside so that all those who see us, see Jesus! We truly count ourselves blessed that The LORD would allow us to be part of what He is doing with Calvary Relief!
We have no out of town volunteers scheduled at this point. We are still the only group helping any of the folks in Moffett. We're mainly looking for teams of five or fewer people to help with the work that's being done now. No experience necessary, just a willing heart to serve and a hunger for God's Word. You'll be amazed at what the Lord does in and though you when that is the focus of your heart!
I hate to bring this up, but it seems that giving to Calvary Relief has slowed down this year. I realize that we're not serving at large storms or in areas that are in the news, but hopefully you know that no matter where we are, we're busy helping others to grow in or be drawn to The LORD as we ourselves do the same and we continue to help those who wouldn't be able to get back in their homes without the help of folks like us.
We've done a lot of belt tightening, but there are always expenses that come up with all of our vehicles and trailers, tools that need to be purchased/replaced, and materials that need to be bought. Would you please pray about donating? All donations are tax-exempt. Please give to your local church first! Checks are always best as it avoids PayPal and credit card fees. Continue to keep us in your prayers. LORD bless, Curt and Mary Jo
