IWD 2015 Rally a Great Success!

Hundreds of women came together on Saturday 7th March in Belfast City Centre to march in celebration of IWD. The extensive 2015 programme was organised by Reclaim the Agenda, with over 50 events including a popular series of lectures at the Ulster Hall. This year's rally was the most successful yet, with a massive crowd taking off from Writer’s Square to the stage outside City Hall, where they heard from a variety of inspirational speakers. These included Lord Mayor Nichola Mallon; NIPSA’s Naomi Connor; Raquel Hosein, an international visitor, activist and STEM student; Youth Action’s Margaret Ward, and Nandi Jola from the Black, Minority and Ethnic Women’s Network. WRDA Launches Women's Manifesto

As a membership-led organisation, the views and experiences from our engagement with members have been at the heart of shaping our new Women’s Manifesto. In 2014 WRDA facilitated a series of workshops incorporating the views of over 100 women from women's centres.
We would like to thank all the women, staff and organisations involved including Falls, Greenway, Windsor Women’s Centre, Women’s TEC and everyone who donated their time and effort in working with us to produce this manifesto. There will be an official launch for the manifesto on Tuesday 31st March from 2:30 – 4:30pm at the MAC in St. Anne’s Square, where light refreshments will be provided. You can take a look at the manifesto here.

Women's Sector Lobbyist represents WRDA at Alliance Conference

The Women’s Sector Lobbyist, Orlaith Hendron, attended the Alliance Party Conference on Sat 14th March at La Mon Hotel and Country Club where guests and participants were treated to an array of speeches from party members. Orlaith held a stall for WRDA at the event and disseminated copies of the new Women’s Manifesto to attendees as they browsed charity and organisation stalls at the day-long event. Help Raise Funds for Abortion Support Network

The Abortion Support Network has been supporting women in need of financial aid for abortions for over five years. In the past, they've often had no choice but to turn women down due to lack of funding, but thanks to the donations of their supporters,
their situation is much improved; just last month alone ASN were able to help 51 women. If you or anyone you know would like to donate and help them reach their £2,500 a month goal please visit the donation page here.

Petition to Rescind Cuts to DE Early Years Fund

An online petition by Early Years is circulating, calling on Education Minister John O'Dowd to rescind the £2 million cut to the DE Early Years Fund. Without this financial support, services to children and families in areas of greatest need across Northern Ireland would not be delivered. They are not far off their 1000 signature goal, please visit this link to sign the petition and show your support.
