New Missionaries and Visa News

Hello <<First Name>>,
How are you doing?  We have had the joy of helping a new missionary family, the Chubbs, get settled here in Chihuahua.  This included, going to El Paso and helping them cross the border, getting their car and visa papers taken care of, helping them get settled in their house and get some furniture, showing them some great places to eat, and much more.  A few days each week, Hector is teaching them and the other new missionaries, Spanish.  While he does that I take care of  their kids and Judah.   (See picture above).

Home Assignment

If you have followed our letters and read about our situation (you can read more about it here on our website),  you know we are planning to go to Missouri for two years for Hector to do his missions training (while Amy works in the childcare program there). We along with the mission leadership, have decided to take this school year as home assignment (furlough).   This is for several reasons including; the Missionary Training Center classes have already started, we still aren't sure how long the visa process will take, and due to finances.  This home assignment, will start when we get Hector's visa, and can go to the USA.  This is a pretty normal thing for missionaries that have been on the field for four years, and I have been here for over four and a half.  We would love to connect with you, and if you have a church, Sunday school class, Bible study, or just group of friends that would be interested in hearing about missions, Mexico, or our ministry, we would love to share!  Please get in touch with us and let us know!

Since we are planning on going to the US for around 3 years, we will be selling our car here, and we need to buy another one in the US.  Praise the Lord with us that He has already provided a buyer, as Hector's dad is in need of a vehicle.  Pray with us that God will provide for another car.  We are very interested in one that gets very good gas mileage, as we will be traveling across the country at least a couple times, in it.  Do you want to be a part of helping us out with our car fund?  If so click here, and leave a note saying that it is for the car.  Thanks!

There has been progress on Hector's green card.  The last papers were turned in and we are waiting for them to tell us the interview date.  The lawyer's assistant helping us, said that, "The National Visa Center is currently experiencing a high volume of cases and they are taking at least 60 business days to review the documents submitted.  I do not expect to hear from them until at least end of October."  So we are waiting some more.  We were told that if the interview goes well, we are allowed to go to the US right away.  Depending on the date of the interview we will probably come back, finish packing up, say goodbyes, and then head to the US (we have up to four months to go once the green card is approved).   In the meantime we are greatly enjoying time with family, and our ministries.

Prayer Requests:

  • Transitions, stress, and focus while waiting
  • plans for home assignment time
  • money for car

How can we be praying for you?
Thanks,  Hector, Amy and Judah Flores
