Hello <<First Name>>,
How are you doing?  How is your summer going?  We have enjoyed taking part in family activities here this summer.  Two of our cousins here, got married, and Amy really enjoyed learning more culture during these weddings.  Also, we were able to go to two birthday parties for some cousins.

Culture note:  Here they call your cousin's kids your  sobrinos or neices and nephews.  Also, for a kids birthday party they rent out a salon (event center) especially for birthday parties, and have food (tacos or corn dogs or something like that).  The event center normally has some kind of large blow up bouncy slide, and other toys like at restaurant playgrounds.  One we went to even had a pool.   The parties normally have a theme, like one was superman and the other was spiderman.  The kids like to dress up in a costume or at least a shirt with the theme on it.  The parents also bring a piñata.  The kids take turns hitting it and then when it breaks enough the parents throw candy for the kids to grab.  Also they have cake or cupcakes and sing, and blow out the candle.  Then when each person leaves they give a goody bag to each kid.  The goody bag normally has candy and chips and sometimes a toy.   Lots of family and friends come to these parties and they normally last about 4 hours.  Judah really enjoyed these parties!

June and July have been very busy.  We have had many reservations at the guest house.  I checked it out and we average about 30 visitors a month.  We also have been making some improvements to the guest house.  We replaced an old dangerous stove, with a nice new one, that many guests, are quite excited about.  We have also been able to make some improvements in the bedrooms.  Replacing old sheets, getting new pillow covers, and changing out the blinds for nice curtains.  Another upgrade we are doing is replacing the VCR and VHS tapes for Dvds, as it is getting harder and more expensive to find VCRs.  Do you have  any family friendly dvd's you don't want anymore??  Would you like to mail them to us for the missionaries and other guests to use?  If so you can mail them to Chihuahua Guest House, c/o Amy Heckman-Flores 10101 Dellwood Dr.,  El Paso, TX 79924.

Here is a little story about the way the guest house was a blessing this month.  In one of the tribal locations where our missionaries work a 7 month baby was accidentally shot.
Our pilots flew in and took the baby to a nearby hospital.  When the decided the baby needed brought to the big city hospital the pilot flew the baby, her family, and 2 doctors to Chihuahua.

We were able to have rooms available, and the doctors were able to stay at the guest house that night.  The family stayed in the hospital with the baby.

Please be praying for this family (Adam and Maricela) and for the babies' (Sorieda (Sor-ida)) healing.

Visa News

Good News and a Big Payment

Praise the Lord with us, that Amy's Mexican permanent resident visa finally arrived!  This means we don't have to pay the $300 or so every year to renew her visa.  She can come and go with out problems.  This is an answer to prayer and a major blessing.

Hector Visa progress:  Hector's visa process is moving along also.  The first part of the process was approved (the same day we found out Amy's visa had arrived).  If you want to see the rest of the process click here link to what else it will take for him to receive the visa.  Right now, the offices are sending some more bills for us to pay (and we have to pay the lawyers.  Pray with us as we need to pay about $850 for these two payments (and it will be within 45 days that the bills arrive).  Do you want to help with this?  If so click here (and you can leave a note that the money is for the visa).  After those payments are made we will be sending in some more documents, and they will schedule the interview in Juarez.  After the interview they will (Lord willing), send us Hector's green card, and we will be able to go to the USA.
