Can We Use Emerging Technologies to Improve Development Outcomes?

London, UK - November 21 - RSVP Now
Every day we hear of new advances in technology solutions that hold promise to mitigate humanitarian crisis and improve lives in developing countries. The opportunities for change span the gamut of challenges that people face around the world, including:
  • Climate change adaptation education delivered via mobile phones
  • Informal settlement fire early warning via Internet of Things
  • Vocational training for youth via virtual reality simulations
  • Blood and medicine delivery via unmanned aerial vehicles
However, for every new technology solution, there are corresponding ethical issues we need to consider in the process of designing effective solutions. Starting with the Principles of Digital Development, we should be asking ourselves how we can ensure our constituents are able to use new innovations to be more adaptive and resilient themselves.
Please RSVP now to join these noted thought leaders in a lively debate exploring the promise, potential, and challenges of new technologies to improve development outcomes:
  • Lea Simpson, Founding Partner, Brink
  • Jian Yi Oh, VR for Development Product Owner, Accenture
  • Olly Parsons, Senior Market Engagement Manager, Mobile for Humanitarian Innovation Fund, GSMA
We'll have hot coffee and catered breakfast treats for a morning rush but seating is limited so please RSVP now. Once we reach our 30-person capacity there will be a waiting list!

About the Technology Salon

The Technology Salon™ is an intimate, informal, and in-person, discussion between information and communication technology experts and international development professionals, with a focus on both:
  • Technology's impact on donor-sponsored technical assistance delivery, and
  • Private enterprise driven economic development, facilitated by technology.
Our meetings are lively conversations, not boring presentations. Attendance is capped at 35 people - and frank participation with ideas, opinions, and predictions is actively encouraged.

It's also a great opportunity to meet others motivated to employ technology to solve vexing development problems. Join us today!
