How to Launch (and Fund!) Your ICT4D Startup Idea?

Washington, DC - Oct 23 - RSVP Now
We all talk about encouraging entrepreneurship in developing countries. Yet how many of us have launched our own business, or spun off an initiative from our employer into its own organization?

The startup life is hard, despite all the hype about venture capital funding and million-dollar exits. In the USA, only 50% of startups survive to the fifth year - and this is an "easy" startup country.

When you think about the high barriers to entry, the long sales cycle, and the meager returns, why would anyone want to launch an ICT4D business? Still there are new tech startups every year in international development.

Please RSVP now to join the next Technology Salon DC to explore ICT4D entrepreneurship and find answers to questions like:
  • What is it like to launch a social enterprise focused on impact in the developing world? When is it a success or failure?
  • Where can you find your first investors, collaborators, and most importantly, paying customers?
  • Why would anyone want to launch a new business, and what are the rewards and penalties for doing so?
  • When should you take the leap into entrepreneurship, vs. keeping your day-job and a side-hustle?
  • Who has done this before and what are they learning?
Please RSVP now to explore ICT4D entrepreneurship with these experienced startup leaders: We’ll have coffee and tasty waffles for a morning rush, but seating is limited. Please RSVP Now. Once we reach our 35-person capacity there will be a waiting list!

About the Technology Salon

The Technology Salon™ is an intimate, informal, and in-person, discussion between information and communication technology experts and international development professionals, with a focus on both:
  • Technology's impact on donor-sponsored technical assistance delivery, and
  • Private enterprise driven economic development, facilitated by technology.
Our meetings are lively conversations, not boring presentations. Attendance is capped at 35 people - and frank participation with ideas, opinions, and predictions is actively encouraged.

It's also a great opportunity to meet others motivated to employ technology to solve vexing development problems. Join us today!
