When, Where, and How Can We Use Drones for Good?

Washington, DC - August 3 - RSVP Now
When the US military weaponized Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), as they've done with most things, "drones" became a word many of us equate with remote assassinations and other horrors of modern warfare.

We have emotional issues with UAVs, but do our constituents?

That was the question posed by a UAV acceptance research study in Tanzania recently completed by Emily Evens of FHI 360. You may be surprised to learn that citizen witnesses and government officials were overwhelmingly positive about the potential of UAV technology in Tanzania.

However, government officials expressed many more and more varied concerns than witnesses, which may be the reason that highly-restrictive UAV regulations are coming quickly across the African continent: With these challenges, when, where, and how can development practitioners use drones for good? Please RSVP now to debate that question at the next Technology Salon DC, where we'll hear from two noted experts on UAV usage: We’ll have hot coffee and catered breakfast treats for a morning rush, but seating is limited, so please RSVP now. Once we reach our 35-person capacity there will be a waiting list!

About the Technology Salon

The Technology Salonâ„¢ is an intimate, informal, and in person, discussion between information and communication technology experts and international development professionals, with a focus on both:
  • Technology's impact on donor-sponsored technical assistance delivery, and
  • Private enterprise driven economic development, facilitated by technology.
Our meetings are lively conversations, not boring presentations. Attendance is capped at 35 people - and frank participation with ideas, opinions, and predictions is actively encouraged.

It's also a great opportunity to meet others motivated to employ technology to solve vexing development problems. Join us today!
