WSDG News - Summer 2019

Two WSDG projects have been selected as candidates in the 2020 NAMM TEC AWARDS STUDIO DESIGN PROJECT Category.  The presentation is scheduled for January 18, 2020, at the Hilton Pacific Ballroom in Anaheim, USA.  While both studios exemplify WSDG’s distinctive design, acoustical and architectural expertise, they are quite dissimilar in scale, purpose and location.  Leading Manhattan-based Podcast production innovator, Stitcher Studios represents a new level of creative options for the burgeoning Podcast field.

A growing slate of new global projects coupled with preparations for the upcoming AES 147th. Convention at New York’s Javits Center (October 16-18, 2019), continue to fuel WSDG’s ongoing drive towards acoustic perfection.  Recent additions to the “approaching completion” section of our Project Summary include:

Studio 21A - Mastering Suite, Beijing, China
Studio 21A is a world-class recording facility created in Beijing, China for leading Pop/Electronic and R&B producer/engineer TC Zhou.  A sophisticated 1,700 sf. complex designed for a myriad of production and post-production tasks, 21A is comprised of a large mastering suite, a sizable Live Room, a spacious Control Room and a centrally located lounge created to anticipate and facilitate all client and artist comfort requirements.
Zurich Firm - Conference Room, Zurich, Switzerland
Architect Nadja Zürcher in cooperation with Vera Gloor AG designed a series of all-glass conference and huddle rooms for a top Zurich-based firm, and commissioned WSDG to do acoustic consulting, treatments and A/V integration for these spaces as well as in the surrounding office space to create rooms that were comfortable to hold meetings and video conferences in, as well as spaces where employees can work comfortably and quietly in the open office space.
National Museum of Qatar, Doha, Qatar
The National Museum of Qatar, designed by architect Jean Nouvel, houses a collection of multi-media exhibits that combine video projections and immersive audio for a spellbinding visitor experience. Swiss firm Idee und Clang, responsible for the audio implementation, commissioned WSDG to create a 3-D acoustic model of the unique indoor space and make crucial recommendations for speaker selection and placement, ensuring maximum effectiveness of the audio for the exhibits.

"Fenway Theater", Boston, USA: An exciting addition to the landscape of performing arts venues in the greater Boston area, this proposed 5,500 capacity space, will provide a state of the art showplace to fill the void between intimate 150 – 200 seat clubs and large 10k+ seat arena/stadiums.

Carter Burwell Studios, Long Island, USA: Oscar-nominated film composer Carter Burwell tagged WSDG to create a full surround mix and inspirational writing room overlooking the ocean in the Hamptons.
The Harlem School of The Arts ‘Renaissance Project’, New York, USA:  A core element of the $9.5 million Herb Alpert Foundation renovation, the building’s 3500 square-foot main lobby will feature an acoustically flawless performance environment created by WSDG.
