Maracana Stadium: Unmatched in its Heritage


WSDG continues its forays into high profile, international stadium designs. The latest successful design is for Maracana, the biggest soccer stadium in Brazil and almost unmatched in its heritage. The stadium was inaugurated in 1950 for FIFA's World Cup, and will host the final World Cup match next year. It has hosted important international soccer matches since 1950 and over the years has also hosted entertainment performances to many thousands of people, including KISS, Tina Turner, Frank Sinatra and others.
 
Recently, WSDG designed the audio and video systems for the entire stadium and public areas including the soccer field, audience areas and internal spaces. WSDG initiated a series of complex acoustic simulations to define speaker location and positioning, while meeting all of FIFA's requirements. Vocomotion: The Perfect Environment to Record Precision Vocals


A cappella, one of the most idiosyncratic of all performing techniques, presents the ultimate challenge in precision vocalizing. Vocomotion Studio owner Freddie Feldman is a master of the genre. With less than 500 square feet to work with, John Storyk of WSDG designed a spacious room reminiscent of a mastering suite. Qatar Television: Broadcasting in the Persian Gulf


Recently in the Persian Gulf, Qatar Television selected WSDG to handle design of several of its broadcast and post facilities. WSDG will be providing acoustical measurements and technical recommendations for reducing reverberation time within Qatar Television's primary studio sets, including News Show, Evening Show and Morning Show. Jorge Rojas: Comfortable in Córdoba


Jorge Rojas is an Argentinian musician and composer of traditional folk music. Jorge wanted a space where he could work comfortably, close to his home in the small mountain town of Anisacate, Córdoba. El Algarrobo (The Oak Tree) is a very large and relaxed environment, designed and built from the ground up by WSDG. Read more...
