WSDG Wins NAMM TEC Award for
Creative Achievement

Walters-Storyk Design Group and Berklee College of Music win the top award for Studio Design Project in Outstanding Creative Achievement at the 30th Annual NAMM Technical Excellence & Creativity Awards.  The awards were held Saturday, January 24 during the NAMM Show in Anaheim, CA, USA and WSDG Partner/Director of International Relations, Sergio Molho, accepted the Award during the ceremony.
One of the largest, most progressive and versatile professional audio teaching / production / performance complexes in the U.S., the Berklee 160 Mass. Ave. complex is the cornerstone of a new $100 million building completed in Boston in 2014.

“WSDG’s entire international team collaborated on this project over three + years,” company co-founder John Storyk said.  “Many key WSDG creative and technical associates made indispensable contributions to its success.  These include our Basel, Switzerland-based partners Dirk Noy and Gabriel Hauser, who ran extensive auditory simulation and modeling tests to establish optimal acoustics for the performance café, the studios, and the critical listening environments; U.S.-based company partner Romina Larregina who coordinated and supervised virtually every aspect of the project, including serving as key liaison with the Berklee College team and with contractor, The Lee Kennedy Co. Inc; and 25-year WSDG Systems Design & Integration Specialist Judy Elliott-Brown, who accomplished literal miracles on one of the most challenging system integration projects we have ever encountered.

“Additionally,” Storyk continues, “my wife and business partner / Principal Interior Designer, Beth Walters, WSDG interior design supervisor Silvia Campos Ulloa Molho and interior designer Charlotte Ross collaborated closely with Berklee College of Music Assistant VP, Carl Beatty on the overall 160 Mass interior design.  We found Berklee College of Music President, Roger Brown, Vice President for Academic Affairs/Vice Provost, Jay Kennedy, and their entire executive cadre to be among the most astute and forward thinking educators we have ever worked with.  Their insights and recommendations were invaluable assets in making 160 Mass. Ave. an extraordinary facility for the school and for future pro audio industry professionals.  This TEC Award reflects their input and commitment every bit as much as our own.”

“Since the TEC Awards were initiated in 1989, WSDG and its projects have been nominated twenty five times for the Outstanding Creative Achievement Studio Design Award and, nine of those nominees were TEC winners.” Sergio Molho concludes. "The TEC is considered the Academy Award of the Pro Audio Industry.  We are proud of our past wins, and we look forward to working with new and established clients on innovative future projects."
