LD Falcon Athletics This Week

Lake Dallas Middle School 7th Grader Matthew Paro is the Denton County Spelling Bee Runner-Up!
LD Law Enforcement Club Advances to State
On Friday, February 16, and Saturday, February 17, the Lake Dallas Law Enforcement Club competed in the Texas Public Service Association (TPSA) Regional Law Enforcement and Fire Fighter competition in Granbury, Texas. Students competed in numerous events against other high schools in the region. Five LDHS teams and individuals are advancing to state competition in their events - Tactical Building Search, Disturbance Call, Felony Traffic Stop, Foot Pursuit and First Responder. The state competition is in Houston, TX on March 23-24.

The results and students in each event are as follows:
  • 3rd Place- Tactical Building Clearing- Members: Jason Robinson, Coltin Whitehead, Stephen Gregory
  • 4th Place- Disturbance Call- Members: Megan Anderson, Sydney Frazier
  • 4th Place- Felony Traffic Stop- Members: Jason Robinson, Megan Anderson, Nick Gregory
  • 4th Place- First Responder- Stephen Gregory
  • 4th Place- Foot Pursuit- Matt Elder
“These students represented Lake Dallas High very well,” Mr. Jimmy Moore, LDHS Law Enforcement Club sponsor said. “They competed against 15-20 other high schools from the region, some with 20-30 participants on their teams.”

The Lake Dallas High School chapter of Texas Association of Future Educators (TAFE) attended the TAFE Teach Tomorrow Summit at the La Torretta Resort and Conference Center, in Montgomery, TX, and Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX, February 15-17, 2018. TAFE is a statewide co-curricular Career and Technical Student Organization created to allow young men and women an opportunity to explore the teaching profession.
While at the conference, many of the members participated in competitive events. The competitive events are designed to offer future educators exciting, authentic opportunities to measure their creativity, skills, and initiative against high standards and against their peers from across the state. There are 35 competitive events and 19 of those events advance to nationals. 
Nine LDHS TAFE members attended the conference with TAFE advisor Gina Minassian and represented LDHS in competitive events. Seniors Baylee Campbell, Livia Dvoracek, Maggie Kelley, Emily Tran and juniors Allie Hanna, Ashlynn Pohlmeyer, Maile Laranang, Izzy May, Haley Nelson earned 4 blue ribbons and a Top 5 plaque at the TAFE Teach Tomorrow Summit.
