Lake Dallas Middle School Bands & Choirs Excel at UIL
Over 100 Lake Dallas Middle School students competed in UIL band and choir contests before spring break.  Symphonic Band 1, LDMS Honor Band and JV Girls Choir each earned the coveted Sweepstakes award at the Region 2 University Interscholastic League Concert and Sight Reading Contest.

The bands competed at Denton Ryan High School on March 7 and March 8. Each band earned a First Division (Superior) rating from all 3 stage judges as well as from all 3 sight reading judges.

The Sweepstakes is the highest award issued by the UIL and is a result of a music group earning a First Division rating for both Concert Contest and for Sight Reading Contest. This award is reserved for groups that are among the most accomplished in the state of Texas.

The choirs competed at Lake Dallas High School on March 6 and March 7. In addition to the JV Girls Choir receiving Sweepstakes, the Varsity Girls Choir received all First Division (Superior) ratings for their Concert performance and a Division 2 rating for Sight Reading, and the Boys Choir earned Division 2 ratings on both Concert and Sight Reading. This is the first year for the Boys Choir.

The LDMS Bands are directed by Felicia May and Dr. Tommy Fain, and the LDMS Choirs are directed by Stephanie Hamilton.
