Special Members Meeting Nov 24th - Vote on Proposed New Constitution & Bylaws

BC's new Societies Act will be enacted November 28. Recognizing this, ISCBC’s Board of Directors retained legal advice from Michael Blatchford of Bull Housser and Tupper LLP for the development of updated and compliant bylaws. Based on this legal advice, the Board of Directors has developed one consolidated version of the bylaws that addresses all recommended changes for the Council along with addressing changes to be compliant with the new Act. Michael Blatchford will join us at ISCBC's Special Members Meeting on November 24, 2016 at 10:45 am at the Pacific Gateway Hotel, Richmond, to present the recommended revisions to the ISCBC Constitution and Bylaws for approval. Click here to view the recommended Constitution and Bylaws that will be voted on at the Special Members Meeting. All are welcome to attend although only members will be entitled to vote.

Special Fall Workshop Nov 24th

Find out more about Soils and Invasive Species along with provide input on key priorities for the next Invasive Species Strategy of BC. Register now to attend the Fall Workshop & Special Members meeting, November 24th, 9:30 am - 5:00 pm, at the Pacific Gateway Hotel, and help determine future priorities and needs in BC for effectively preventing and managing invasive species and their impacts on BC’s landscapes. This meeting is open to all.

Bullfrog Webinar Nov 23

Wednesday Webinars Return with Bullfrogs

We are excited to welcome back the Wednesday lunchtime Webinar series, kicking off with "Bullfrogs in BC" on November 23 at 12 pm PST. This talk is part of our RBC Adopt-A-Watershed program and will explore the impacts of bullfrogs on native frogs on Vancouver Island, cost-effectiveness from pilot bullfrog control and eradication projects, and potential long term management strategies.

Adopt-A-Watershed: Urban Leadership in Aquatic Invasive Species, Kamloops, Nov 16

In partnership with RBC Blue Water Project, the Invasive Species Council of British Columbia is facilitating an Adopt-A-Watershed Workshop to support communities in keeping their watersheds diverse and free from invasive species. Local watershed stakeholders are invited to join this half day workshop in Kamloops, BC on Nov 16, 2016 from 9m - 1pm including lunch. Click here for more information.

Call for Abstracts for Invasive Species Research Conference

Calling all invasive species researchers and practitioners! Thompson Rivers University and the Invasive Species Council of BC are excited to co-host the 2017 Invasive Species Research Conference - Turning Science into Action, being held in beautiful Kamloops, June 20 - 22, 2017. Submit your abstract for either oral or poster presentations. If you have an idea for a session theme, we also want to know. Pesticide Applicators Certification Training - Call for Interest

The ISCBC is looking to partner with First Nations or Aboriginal groups across the province to deliver a four-day pesticide applicators training session. The goal of the session is to enable participants to successfully obtain their Industrial Vegetation Management & Noxious Weed Pesticide Applicator Certificate. There is a current shortage of certified pesticide applicators in the province - now is the time to get trained and working. If you are interested in exploring this opportunity further, please contact Coleen at chougen@bcinvasives.ca or at (250) 573-5544. Funding is limited so please contact us as soon as possible.
