World Book Fair

Loving our Neighbours by initiating programmes to share the love of Lord Jesus is one of the tenets of DBI's Vision 2025.  One of the ways we accomplish this is through our participation in the World Book Fair which is held in Delhi.

The Bible, the focus of our stall, was made available in various languages and had different versions suitable for different ages.

The theme of our stall was loud and clear, 'Jesus is the way the truth and the life' and 'The Holy Bible, written that you may believe, believing you may have eternal life'. The hoarding said it all to anyone who passed by, even to the ones who did not enter the stall.

The DBI stall was inaugurated by Mark Green, the Chairman of DBI International Advisory Board.

Sharing the gospel

120,000 pieces of literature were distributed by a team of 40 Church Associates, students and volunteers.
Barbara Steele, a volunteer from UK for the past 3 book fairs, distributed 8,000 pieces of literature.

The gospel was shared with visitors to our stall and with those who showed interest after reading our literature.  40 people expressed their desire to know more about Christ and enrolled themselves for Christianity Explored, an evangelistic tool that is done over 10 weeks.

Several school children visited the stall and many purchased the Bible comic and the New Testament.

3,803 Bibles and Books were sold in the Fair.

Jaipur Anugrah Ashram

The Phase I of buying the property for the Jaipur Anugrah Ashram was completed in January and the property registered in February. Pastor Ramraj David who headed the Ranchi Anugrah Ashram has now moved with his family to Jaipur to pioneer the work there.

Annual Medical and Dental Camp

A multinational team from Brazil, Colombia, India,  England, Northern Ireland, and the USA provided primary dental and medical care to the staff, church planters, students, church members and friends of the work.  In all 474 patients were screened.

The medical camp serves to give needed care to people who would otherwise not have access to care.  It also serves as a great encouragement to those doing the work of ministry and helps keep them healthy and able to continue the work of the Gospel.  The camps help connect staff, pastors, church planters, students, neighbors and their families to the church.  By receiving compassionate and skilled care they experience the love of Christ in a very practical way.

The medical camps were held in the Ashrams at Ranchi, Dehradun, Lucknow and Delhi.  A highlight of this year was to be able to offer a bigger women’s clinic.  Many female team members this year afforded the opportunity for the Indian ladies to see female providers.

In addition to the medical and dental care, people were provided education regarding proper weight lifting (back care), basic eye care, proper brushing of teeth and other dental care.

The team was also a part of the Vision trip to Rajasthan to see the Jaipur Anugrah Ashram.

“This brief article can only scratch the surface on what God has shown us, what he has taught us, and how he has changed us on this trip. As the team leader I was very encouraged to see our team of very different people work together exceptionally well to have effective medical camps in each city.  It was a beautiful picture of how God puts the body of Christ together in the church for his Glory.  We heard testimonies in India revealing how the Lord takes ordinary people and does extraordinary things through them for the Kingdom.  Ordinary people like each of us at our church are intended for his purposes as well.  I was personally impressed with the Lord’s love for me as I saw it so evident in the life and testimonies of the men in India.  God goes to great lengths to rescue us from despair and destruction.  Finally, our brothers and sisters in India follow and proclaim Christ at great cost and risk.  This is a challenge to us to live wholeheartedly for the Lord here in our country where we face minimal persecution and risk.”
~ A Doctor on the team
The next Medical Trip is scheduled in January 2015.  We need dental and medical personnel to go.  The growing number of Ashrams demands more providers to enable us to send a team to each city, so pray and go next year as the Lord directs you.

Bible and Sewing Conference

An important role of the Bible and Sewing Conference is to help connect the ladies of the community to the church and our Ashrams. Women were taught about God’s sovereignty through the story of Job and Esther and the Gospel was clearly explained using the wordless book.

A total of 194 ladies were trained in sewing skills in the Ashrams at Dehradun, Ranchi, Lucknow and Chandauli. A team of faithful teachers, Lucy and Leslie from the USA, Barbara from UK and Suman and Sapna from India and a host of volunteers helped with administration, translation, hosting, buying supplies including staff and students of DBI and members of Bible Bhavan Christian Fellowship in all our Ashrams.

The sewing conference next year will be held in February.  If you are interested in joining the team or have questions please contact us at info@dbip.org. We are especially in need of those who have ability to sew and teach others to do so. It's a tremendous opportunity to catch a glimpse of what the Lord is doing in North India.
