PTA News

Welcome to the Bill Roberts PTA 2021-2022!

We are very fortunate to have a diverse and active PTA at Bill Roberts! My name is Adie Tate and I am the PTA President this year. I have two students in 3rd and 6th grade at Bill Roberts. I am excited to work with our executive board this year: Erin Boulware, Vice President; Wendy Largey, Treasurer; and Sarah Bartles, Secretary. Please let me know if you have any questions, comments or concerns by emailing billrobertspta@gmail.com. The Thursday Notes newsletter will be full of great information each week, so please take time to read it and be an active participant in your child's educational experience and the Bill Roberts PTA!

"Take Me Away" Greet & Give Event

Say Yasss to our Take Me Away Greet & Give party on September 18th!

Bill Roberts parents Sarah Bartles & Bret DeBenedictis and Cate & Craig Mueller are hosting a travel-themed evening where you can mingle outdoors with BR parents, teachers and staff, play games, win prizes, and – if you’re inclined and able to – make a donation to support our great school! So get out that beret or sombrero, find your favorite camping shirt, or whatever inspires your get-away travel spirit and RSVP to the partay!

For obvious reasons we will need to cap attendance and will require proof of vaccination or masks for the unvaccinated. This is an adults-only event that will be held in Sarah and Bret’s backyard.

Spirit Wear

You can order Bill Roberts tees, hoodies, hats and magnets for delivery to your home or you can pick up your order from our local printing partner, Impact We Print. Elementary students can dress in spirit wear tops on Fridays, while Middle School students can dress in spirit wear every day. Check out the selections HERE.

Still Time to Read for Book it Bobcats!

Book It Bobcats, Bill Roberts' annual Summer Reading Program and fundraiser will continue for a few more weeks! Students can continue counting reading hours until September 5th. New students to Bill Roberts can still register online and parents can "guesstimate" the number of hours read over the summer. All reading hours and pledges should be submitted by September 10th and prizes will be given out September 17th! Happy Reading! We're excited to start the 2021-2022 school year!

Face Mask Policy

All students, teachers and staff are required to wear masks while inside the building, regardless of vaccination status. Please see THIS 8/13/21 EMAIL from Principal Lea for more information about the mask policy.

All students K-8th will have the same start and end time to the school day:
Monday-Thursday
7:40am-2:40pm (first bell at 7:35am)
Friday
7:40am-12:40pm

Check the Bill Roberts Calendar for the most updated schedule. You can also check the DPS 2021-2022 Calendar for district-wide dates.

FREE Grab & Go breakfast is available for ALL students starting at 7:30am. Tables with breakfast bags will be set up in front of the school and by the cafeteria entrance.
Helpful tips for the 1st day and 1st week

Our school parking lot can be chaotic on the best of days, so please consider walking or riding in with your student(s) on the first day and perhaps all week. If you must drive, please stay off your phone, slow down, and be courteous.

The Kiss & Go Lane means a quick goodbye to your student(s) and then you're off! Please DO NOT park in the Kiss & Go lane to walk your kids to the door.

Bike Locks
Establish an early habit with locking bikes on the school grounds near the doors and by the playground. Bikes locked to the fence next to the baseball field are routinely stolen.

Restricted Access to the Building
For safety and health reasons, currently no visitors are allowed inside the school building, including parents and families. Thank you for understanding, as your students’ safety is our main concern.

MIDDLE SCHOOL (MS) CORNER

Orientation and Family Picnic
Today, August 19th from 2:30-6pm

Students get to meet teachers and get settled a little before the first day of school. We will also distribute Chromebooks, and assign lockers. Students should bring school supplies to put in their lockers. Because they will be going inside the building they must have a mask with them. Please drop your students off at the following times:

6th grade -2:30pm
7th grade -3:00pm
8th grade -3:30pm

Parents and siblings are invited to join us for an all-MS picnic out back on the playground from 5-6pm. We will provide fried chicken, a Bill Roberts tradition. Feel free to bring a potluck dish to share or bring your own meal if you do not feel comfortable sharing in a potluck.

We hope you can join us!

SPORTS ARE BACK!
DPS is planning on following its regular sports schedule for middle school this year. If your student is interested in participating in a sport, please fill out this form. It’s not a commitment; we are just trying to gauge interest for planning purposes. As always, we will need an updated sports physical and some additional emergency information for all students who are trying out for any sports. All of that will be on this form.
