How did you discover 3A?
About four years ago or so, I was working on a character model and looking for some robot references to get started. I came across some paintings by Ashley Wood, who I was already a fan from his MGS and Spawn work. I did a few specific searches for "Ashley Wood Robot Paintings" and eventually a picture of a WWRp Medic Bertie popped up that I thought looked WAY too realistic to be a painting. Clicking on the link took me to a page that had a few 3A toy pictures on them. As someone who, up to that point, had collected Transformers since he was a wee kid, I was blown away that robot toys that looked so incredibly real with life like weathering and rusted metal paint even existed!
Realizing these were things I "could" buy I jumped online and started searching for anything I could find/afford.
What was your first 3A figure?
I honestly can't remember as I kinda went on a buying spree right out the gate. I want to say it was WWRp JEA Bramble, though my WWR Slaughterhouse Dropcloth was certainly a close second.
Favorite 3A item in your collection?
The toughest question for everyone, I'm sure.
I still smile whenever I look at Slaughterhouse. There's just something so cool about its unique colorway with the butcher stripes and meat cleavers. The character's back story is also fantastically twisted. It embodies for me all the kinda things that made me love WWR.
That said, if I could only save one thing from a fire, I'd have a very difficult time not grabbing my OG Blind Cowboy/Dead Horse set... that thing is a piece of art!
What would you like to see made or are looking forward to?
I'm also really looking forward to all the Star Wars and Marvel stuffs coming down the pipe. Very excited to see what Ash does with Wolverine, Spidey and how/if he'll tackle the more human characters from Star Wars (Han, Leia, Lando, etc)
What is your 3A grail?
I actually had to sell off one of my grails several years ago (Yama) and I STILL whack my head against my desk whenever it comes up. Why o why?
Today, I think more than anything else I want a 1/6 MK1 NW square. I've always loved the clean NW colorway and the MK1 squares are just classic 3A design. I know there's a NW Large Martin as well as a rare NW Bramble out there somewhere as well, which of course would be amazing to have... but I'd be 100% content with the little square.
I know it's insanely unlikely, but if the opportunity ever did come along, I'd do whatever I could to make it a permanent part of my collection.
