This month say hello to Susan Walker, Sue has been part of the team here for a jaw dropping 42 years! Fred Aldous is quite literally in her blood, with the original Fred being her Great Grandfather. We call Sue the ‘bloodhound’; when everyone else has given up hope of finding that last bead or reel of thread for an order, Sue will scour every inch of our 3 jam packed floors to find it. When she does get the time she can be found producing many of our inspiring product samples. Her most recent project is the latest craze that has swept Japan, ‘Amigurumi’, which literally means crocheted stuffed toy – it’s fast, fabulous and fantastic fun. If you like the look of these covetable creatures buy the book now.

Fresh off the boat from Japan, Oyumaru Modelling compund is a real space age product. This resin material is totally reuseable time and time again and will save you tons of mess. To soften Oyumaru, dip a piece in hot water (approx: 80 degrees C/176F) for about 3 minutes. Take the Oyumaru out of the water with a pair of tongs and dry off with a paper towel. Press your original into softened Oyumaru to make a mould. Wait until the Oyumaru is cool, and it should be hard but still flexible. Use to make quick moulds for Polymer clay and Precious Metal Clay. Top tip: use a small amount of baby oil to make your original pop out super easy. You can use Oyumaru like a modelling compound. Make beads, charms, trinkets etc. Anything is possible. Oyumaru's material is SBS, non hazardous. Buy some here
