• The GT Algorithms & Randomness Center (ARC) and GT Neural Engineering Center are welcoming UC Berkeley's Bruno Olshausen for a Distinguished Lecture, Neural Computations for Active Perception, March 15. The event is taking place in the Marcus Nanotechnology Bldg., Rm. 1116/18 and kicks off a series of discussions scheduled as part of Theoretical Neuroscience Day.
• Members of the GT Computing and GT information security communities were saddened to hear of the passing of Howard Schmidt on March 2. Schmidt was a professor of practice (2004-09) with the Georgia Tech Information Security Center, cybersecurity advisor to two U.S. presidents, and security executive for Microsoft and eBay.
