These Georgia Tech Women are Changing the Field of Robotics 
While national stats for robotics aren’t available, the number of females getting undergraduate degrees in computer science is increasing. It was nearly 14 percent in 2009. It’s up to almost 16 percent as of 2015. This past fall, 23 percent of Georgia Tech’s computer science students were female. Does diversity in robotics truly matter? • The Interdisciplinary Research Center for Machine Learning at Georgia Tech (ML@GT) is hosting its inaugural event on April 17. The event is scheduled from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. and includes lunch, a panel discussion, quick-fire presentations, and a reception and poster session. Guests can RSVP here.   

• The deadline to apply for the next round of startup support with Flashpoint is April 17. Since 2011, Flashpoint startups have raised more than $300 million from top-tier venture firms.

• The Georgia Tech Staff Council is hosting three town hall sessions on April 18. Topics to be discussed include benefits updates and changes for 2018, FLSA decisions updates, Staff Council updates, and one-year service recognition ideas.
