CIT Shabbaton in Photos

February 16-18, 2017

Our CIT Shabbaton in Baltimore was incredible! Inspiring, tasty, and fun! We are thrilled to share with you some pictures from some parts of the trip, so you and your sons can relive the experience.

Thursday Night

Van ride down the I-95 filled with anticipation.
Arrived in Baltimore, dropped off bags at respective hosts.
Pizza dinner at the Michelsohns.
9:45: Maariv at Yeshiva Gedola Ohr Hatorah
10:00: We gathered in a shiur room for a special, entertaining shmooze from Rabbi Yona Yakov Lapidus, a rebbi in the yeshiva and son-in-law of Rabbi Nulman. He told us that "it has never happened, it will never happen, it cannot happen" that you can do what Hashem says and lose because of it.
After the shmooze, we joined the yeshiva for part of mishmar in the bais midrash.

Friday Morning

6:45: Wakeup.
7:30: Shacharis at Ner Yisroel's Mechina High School.
Breakfast in the Yeshiva dining room.
Then basketball and a short hike on the Ner Yisroel campus...
9:30 am: a few minutes of learning.
10:00 am: Private meeting with the Rosh HaYeshiva, Rav Aharon Feldman. He spoke to us about how privileged we are to be part of Klal Yisroel and have the Torah. "You picked the right parsha to come!" he told us (referring to Kabalas HaTorah in Parshas Yisro).

Laser Tag!

11:00 - 1:00: Two hours of laser tag, laser maze, etc...
1:00: Lunch in the van. Then...
shopping spree at Seven Mile Market.
(Everyone bought tons of super-healthy food like alfalfa sprouts and coconut water.)

Shabbos

Friday Night

Kabbalas Shabbos at Kol Torah.
Shabbos seuda at the respective hosts.
Special Oneg Shabbos with many of the counselors. We had the great honor of having Rav Yissochor Dov Eichenstein, Rav of Mercaz Torah U'tefilla, come to our Oneg as our guest speaker. In his signature humorous style, the Rav told several memorable stories on topics relating to the Parsha: being proud to be a Jew; the chashivus of Torah; and how one never loses by doing the right thing. (Seems to be a theme here!)

Shabbos Day

8:30: Shacharis at Kol Torah.
One united Seuda, with counselors, at the Michelsohn's.
After the meal, the boys played outside enjoying the beautiful weather.

Shalosh Seudos was also at the Michelsohns. Beautiful singing and divrei torah. We spoke about the great accomplishment everyone on this trip did through their learning during the summer. Even if it may not seem like such a "big deal", it is tremendous! We told a story about what Limud Hatorah can accomplish. Everyone felt the kedusha of Shabbos and we all knew the trip was nearing its end.

Motzaei Shabbos

For Maariv, we walked to Mercaz Torah U'tefillah, and joined the crowd that was still singing and eating Shalosh Seudos.
Havdalah.
And finally.... Dougies!
What an amazing and memorable trip. We thank you, dear parents, for allowing us to get to know your sons a little better, and letting them join us for a very nice Shabbos.

Important

Please remind and encourage your son to write a thank-you note to his host. I will send a separate email with a list of hosts and addresses, and a template thank-you note. It is an important courtesy, and a wonderful chinuch opportunity, as well!

Warmest regards,
Zecharya and Tamar Michelsohn
