March 2011 ~ V.2 #3
Elementals. They are everywhere! Wherever we are, the spirits of the planet silently watch and sometimes even help us out, we being none the wiser...most times. With the coming of spring, the earth awakens and new life springs forth in a myriad of ways. The fire of our Sun begins to warm the planet beckoning the flowers to peek their little shoots out of the earth; making tepid the global waters, inviting the spawn and frolic of lake, river and sea; and birds of the air sing their happy songs as the day brightens sooner and the days grow long.
The importance of the all too real yet mostly unnoticed world of spirit is not lost on the Tarot. Elementals are evident all through the Waite-Smith system thanks to the artist and creators Pamela Coleman Smith and A.E.Waite. Evidence of each suits' Elementals are sprinkled everywhere. Their presence is invaluable when seeking answers, as it allows them to speak in ways one wouldn't think to notice in the mundane world. They live in the smallest details of the images just as they do in our day to day lives.
The Elementals of the Tarot help to draw out our attention to things mostly unseen and overlooked, reminding us that the beauty is in the details and that it is in the "little things" that the grandest meaning can be found. They catch our attention from the corner of the eye just as they would in our very real world, if only we look and see. Once one starts to pay attention to the Elementals, the more one begins to realize their significance in our lives. Is it a coincidence that in the Minor Arcana there are four suits that match the elements in swords of the air, wands of fire, cups of water and the pentacles of the earth, while the Major Arcana embody the Journey of Spirit of Human beings? Our "78 Friends" are everywhere...
So, the next time you take a walk remember to look for our little friends, both Fae and Fauna. And if your eye is drawn to the wee little creature within the image of a card, this too is no coincidence. It is a sign...a sign of spring and a sign of life now and all year through! Listen to their little voices speaking to you...because it is the "little things" that mean the most!
Until next time...
Deck of the Month...
The Mystic Faerie Tarot
Created by the artistic Linda Ravencroft and Tarot Master Barbara Moore, the Mystic Faerie Tarot is a collaboration of two distinct and brilliantly talented minds that capture in this deck the true essence of the Fae. The images on the cards themselves are imaginative and portray the Faerie spirit like no other deck has. I especially love the way the elements are incorporated with consistency throughout the suits. Each image pulls you close to the surface of the mystical world of the Elementals, then drawing you in and transporting you right into the world of the faeries and the big little world where it resides. The deck in its entirety tells its own story, written and revealed in the wonderful companion book that accompanies the deck, which is a pleasant surprise! It really augments the whole feel and really is an essential component to the whole experience. Barbara has done an excellent job in weaving the world that is the Mystic Faerie's. The story in the deck leads you into the garden of life that is our own planet reflected within our lives. That the characters within this deck's story seem very familiar and akin to the lives of humans is no accident. Big or little, we all have a wee bit of the wee folk within us, all stolen children of one sort or another. Nothing is lost on we, the seekers.
While this might be more of an intermediate to advanced type of deck to use for reading, the companion book is invaluable as it has very informative information which can aid beginner through advanced readers. Faerie lore, the meanings of the cards, sample readings, how to structure a reading, an assortment of suitable spreads and a brief history of Tarot and how this tarot connects with the nature of the world all around us are covered. This deck is Faerie Immersion! I recommend it for any Faerie Fan and collector. This is also a good deck to start expanding away from the traditional original Waite-Smith without deviating from that tradition too far; while it holds basically true to the Waite-Smith format, there is enough departure to let one use their own intuition to tap into the magical world of the Fae. All in all, a right smart deck!

Bloodstone Zodiacal: Pisces ~ Vibration: #4 & 6
Bloodstone is a form of chalcedony infused with inclusions of blood red spots of jasper. Discovered in 1844 by J.D.Dana, this gemstone is found in massive formations generally in India. This mineral is an intense healing stone and a "stone of courage". It can be used to introduce and awaken a vibration of energy of uniformity in the base, sacral and heart chakras. It helps one to accept the change in energy fields and to recognize the beneficial aspects of turmoil prior to perfection. While balancing energies, bloodstone will ground and center the energy of the heart and to help overcome any anxiety experienced during this type of realignment. The message which lies inside of the bloodstone is to "be here now", granting one the mastery for renewal of the physical, mental and emotional, providing for the revitalization of relationships, love, friendships and connections with others.
There is an inherent strength to the energy of the stone, allowing for transmittal of practical guidance, while providing introductory information with respect to the application of the advice and council. It instills the wisdom and sensitivity to be able to make the appropriate application, while providing for unification of the energy bodies advancing attributes of harmony, adaptability and strength. Bloodstone helps one to demonstrate unselfishness and idealism, to improve ones talents and abilities, to enhance creative efforts and to support the decision making process. It has been used in accessing the principles of mysticism, providing insight into the immediate spiritual intuition of truths which transcend ordinary understanding. It also helps one to be in direct union with the Divine through contemplation, meditation and love. States of bewilderment and obscure thought have been dispelled through the use of this stone. The Bloodstone has also been used to facilitate admittance to the spiritual realms of the ancestors, providing for an open avenue of communication with them, the information received via the intuitive state.
Physiological and holistic uses include treatment of the spleen, kidneys, bladder, intestines, liver and to purify the blood. It can neutralize and eliminate the toxins within the body, and has been used in the treatment of leukemia.
The fact that this common stone, which is so easy to find, very affordable and readily available almost everywhere makes this the ideal stone for healing and insight. Not to be sold short, it is a must have for the gemstone collection.

Question of the Month: "How do I connect to my spiritual guides or guardians?" ~Zeli.
I get this question a lot. Connecting with our guides can be quite easy for some and not so easy for others. I think it all depends on what sort of sensitivities each person has. Let's say one is more of a visual sort as one with clairvoyant tendencies would have. Dialog with ones guides would therefore present itself more likely in the form of mental images, thought forms involving imagery and signs of a visual nature in the everyday world. On the other hand, if one is more prone to auditory signals as happens when one is clairaudient, then the signals would most probably come through in an auditory capacity. Same goes for the more empathic individuals exhibiting clairsentient abilities, only with this type of intuitive sensing, it is more a "knowing" or a feeling that one gets when communication with one's guides. Some, like myself, use a combination of all of these things to get a dialog going with guides, angels and those on the other side. It all depends on what feels most natural and comfortable, and can be discerned through trial and error and regular practice.
The easiest way I have found to connect is through meditation techniques that are fun and easy. Simply go into a light meditation, starting with deep relaxing breathing. Do not be afraid to use some soothing music, meditation sounds or other aids to help get you into the light meditative trance state. Once you are relaxed, visualize that you are visiting a house. Feel free to use your imagination to create a suitable setting for this house and the surrounding area. See yourself walking up to the door of this house, noting the colour of the house, the style of the door, all the details of the experience. This is the dwelling of your Guide or Guides. When you feel ready to meet your Guide, simply knock on the door. When the door opens, there standing in front of you will be your Guide. Make note of what your Guide looks like, smells like, sounds like. At this point, your guide will invite you in. Make sure to thank your Guide for their hospitality. Make a note of what the house looks like inside and if there are any other guides there. How do you feel when you are inside of this place? What is your overall impression? What does this house remind you of? Stay as long as you like, making sure to ask questions, such as what is your name? Where do you come from? What is your mission? Do you have anything to tell me? Or any other specific question that you feel a need to ask. Listen to what your Guide has to say. When you feel that it is time to go, stand, thank your guide again for their hospitality and show yourself to the door. Open the door, step out into your own inner world, and close the door behind you. End by bringing yourself back into the three dimensional world by wriggling you toes and opening your eyes. Sit for a while, taking in all that you have experienced, then make sure to jot it down in your journal for safe keeping and later reference.
While this is in no way the only means to meet and experience your Spirit Guides, it is one of the easiest ways to start and definitely the most fun! Feel free to experiment and create your own meditative environments, as this is the key to tapping into your Higher Self and your inner knowledge. Remember, your Guides and friends in Spirit are only a thought away! Pleasant journeys!
