Welcome to this week's edition of Good News For Ashford

Last Sunday was Remembrance Sunday. Each church took park in the remembering.  Below are some pictures of what was going on around the Parish

The Parish PCC met on 11th November at St Mary’s Community Centre.  At this meeting, we had a varied agenda and discussions from Finance, to Churchyard maintenance and the new Generosity programme that the parish is looking to introduce in the new year.

Each member of the PCC are on all church Local Leadership Teams, so if you want to no more, please speak to your church Local Leadership Team.  Alternatively, you can contact Phil Sibbald, PCC Secretary in the church office on 01233 620433 or email
A delegation from Ashford Town Parish recently attended the Bishop's Day introducing the theme of a 'Year of Living Generously'. The whole point, though, is that it isn't for a year only! And it isn't all about money either. We know that our father is generous to us. His greatest gift to us is, of course, Jesus himself. How do our lives, personally and collectively, reflect the God who has given everything of himself? There were more questions than answers but this is an important area that we need to consider. How do we 'live generously'? Answers, at this stage, are, quite literally, on a postcard
Each year, the PCC sets a percentage amount of its received Giving to charity.
Recently St Mary’s Kennington collection £280 at their Service of Light which has been donated to The Pilgrim’s Hospice.
At each Remembrance Sunday Service in the parish, the collections will be sent to the Earl Haig Poppy Fund.  Once the amount has been totalled, we will report this in a future issue of Good News For Ashford.
In last week’s edition, there was an article about the Deanery Trip to Oberammergau – the Passion Play in 2022.  We have received an update from Canon Paul Miller, who is organising the trip that there are now only 10 spaces available.  Therefore, if you are thinking about going on this trip, please get in touch with Canon Paul at or contact Phil Sibbald in the Parish Office.
