Center for Energy and Environment conducts technology and market assessments to identify tomorrow’s best clean energy strategies. We produce technical studies on building science, mechanical system performance, and program policy design.

This month we report on commercial boilers, dehumidification, tankless water heaters, and Minnesota's statewide energy efficiency potential study. Follow the links below for updates on each CEE project.

Condensing Tankless Water Heaters: Multifamily Buildings

This project is recruiting study participants to quantify saving potential for condensing tankless water heating, as opposed to conventional direct-fired gas storage and indirect service systems. Keep Reading

Commercial Boiler Control Tune-ups

The team analyzed four data sets on boiler systems in Minnesota, which will help project the potential impact of large-scale implementation of the control optimization service. Keep Reading

Field Study of Standalone Dehumidification Efficiency

Researchers have identified 20 homes for in-depth monitoring of dehumidifier power, condensate production, and outlet conditions. Results from the study will be published this fall. Keep Reading

Efficiency and Carbon-Saving Potential Study

The research team is in the final stages of examining the potential for energy savings in Minnesota. The final report will detail steps for the implementation of recommendations. Keep Reading

Where We'll Be

Aug 12-17: ACEEE Summer Study on Efficiency in Buildings, Pacific Grove, CA. Multiple CEE staff presenting.
Aug 20-23: Electrification 2018: International Conference & Exposition, Long Beach, CA. Mike Bull attending.
Projects are funded by grants from the Minnesota Department of Commerce, Division of Energy Resources through the Conservation Applied Research and Development (CARD) program, or from the U.S. Department of Energy's Building America program. Co-funding is provided by project partners and by CEE in support of its nonprofit mission to advance research, program design, and knowledge dissemination in the field of energy efficiency
Center for Energy and Environment is a clean energy nonprofit with special expertise in energy efficiency that stretches back nearly 40 years. CEE provides a range of practical and cost-effective energy solutions for homes, businesses, and communities to strengthen the economy while improving the environment.
