Virginia Carroll - “Montezuma’s Castle”
Virginia Carroll has been involved with art from a very early age, when her parents recognized her talent and saw that she had lessons from many capable art instructors. She studied art all through high school and studied Fine Arts at three different colleges well know for their Fine Arts programs. Virginia worked for years in traditional media until discovering Colored Pencil in 2006. This so suited her view of art and life that she has worked in no other medium since that time. She has won many awards, has shown in numerous local, national and international exhibits and has work in many private collections. “I always keep my ear to the ground regarding new materials and techniques for Colored Pencils because I love to try new things to enhance my work. I began hearing about the Icarus Board several years ago and thought it was something I should look into. I contacted Ester and Mario and ordered one to try and was amazed at how much faster I could work and how rich the hues in my work became. I also found that I could do work that could assimilate oil painting, even, with the right technique and material, giving it real texture. I was already hooked, but then took a workshop with Ester at a CPSA convention and loved some of the techniques she used. I incorporated those techniques into the already expanding ways I was finding to use the Icarus Board. I seldom do a piece of work in which I do not use it!”
