PRAYfor Matthew and Amber as they serve God in Thailand. One of their portfolios relates to the fight against human trafficking. Here is an update from them.
"For the first half of September we were joined by a group from Fight 4 Freedom, a Canadian anti-trafficking organization. Through a connection with a partnered church, Amber connected with this team and then planned and facilitated their time in Thailand. Through her work with ISM, Amber has built relationships with organizations and people on the front lines of trafficking in Thailand. The 2016 Global Slavery Index shows that an estimated 425,000 people in Thailand live in modern slavery. Though famous for sex trafficking, the issue of trafficking is much more complicated in Thailand. Labour trafficking is a huge challenge, especially in areas of economic hardship. Trafficking in Thailand includes domestic and transnational trafficking. Sex tourism is a huge contributor to the economy especially in cities like Bangkok and Pattaya. While in Thailand, the Fight 4 Freedom team and Amber met with a number of organizations doing amazing work. They were all searching for ways to build partnerships. ISM is well poised to help train and release interns into these opportunities."
