The Mission of God is about Celebrations
PRAISEGod that His name is being glorified around the world; in so many different circumstances. Murray Cornelius, Executive Director for International Missions, had opportunity to be part of a national Zimbabwe Soccer Tournament at the end of 2018. All across Africa, soccer (or football as it's known in Africa) is used as an opportunity to win young men and women to Christ; it's been a very successful way to get into communities and to share the love of Jesus. There are hundreds of stories of lives changed through this avenue.
This week Murray is in Dakar, Senegal and has the privilege of celebrating and dedicating a brand new dormitory (Maison d’Accueil des Enfants Sourds) at our school for the deaf in Dakar. The school, École Renaissance des Sourds, provides Godly love, care, and education for children who suffer hearing handicaps.
PRAYfor Daniel and Mayra and their children, Daniela, Diego and Deborah. They are newly appointed global workers to Spain and are very excited to have the amazing opportunity to work alongside the Salem Churches in Spain. They will be a blessing to pastors Marcos Vidal and Jesus Giraldo as they minister and reach out to Spaniards across the nation.
PRAYfor David Hazzard as he continues to walk his journey with cancer. They have been struck by the daily mercies that God has shown them: nurses and doctors who are followers of Jesus, relief of pain in his back, being accepted for a new drug plan. All of these are wonderful blessings from the Lord.

K and A in Vietnam
PRAISE God for a new and exciting opportunity for our global workers in Vietnam. Here is an update from their ministry.
"The cup in this picture represents a new partnership that our global workers have made with a local coffee shop as they reach out to university students on the campus across the street. We took some very important steps this past month to solidify our partnerships with two local ministries that seek to reach university students in Ho Chi Minh City. Each of these ministries seek to use English as a tool to attract people into a space (one is a coffee shop and the other is a homework club). This is done through being able to offer several English classes and English Conversation Nights, free of charge for students. When new students arrive, they are then met by several Vietnamese volunteers, who are young believers, and we begin the journey of sharing Christ with them. K has taken on a role of working with these two ministries that are located in a working class district of our city. One has been operating for several years and the other we just helped launch a couple weeks ago! K is able to provide ESL teaching, discipleship & coaching of the Vietnamese volunteers who will be the ones primarily responsible for Evangelism, and he is also working to expand partnerships and to see if we can replicate and expand these ministries in other parts of the city. We are trusting God for BIG THINGS!"
PRAIY for David who has recently been diagnosed with cancer. Here's an update:
We recently shared this news with our congregation and wanted you to be aware as well. Earlier this year I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. This was an early detection of the cancer and the prognosis for someone in my situation is very good. After consulting with our doctors and praying about the options, I will be having surgery next Wednesday, May 22nd, and spending a week in the hospital. Lord willing, no further treatment will be needed. We have been supported by excellent doctors and feel confident in the decisions made for treatment. All together I will be off work for two to three weeks.We are grateful to be a part of a community that believes in prayer and the healing work of Jesus. We have received great support from our church here in Basel. Your prayers for the surgery, recovery and spiritual strength are much appreciated and needed. Our hearts are encouraged by knowing that you’ll be supporting us. This is an opportunity for us to trust in God and his goodness. We sense his peace and provision for us and rest in that.
