Macaulay Honors College

Dear students,

The CUNY Board of Trustees yesterday voted to approve a new governance plan for Macaulay Honors College that establishes it as a new unit of CUNY with degree-granting authority.
Now that CUNY has taken this essential step, the plan will be reviewed by the New York State Board of Education. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, beginning next year, graduates will receive a degree from both Macaulay Honors College and their home campus.
This is an important milestone for CUNY and for our outstanding students. It comes at an auspicious moment, when we are coming around the corner of our tenth year anniversary. It has been a remarkable decade. The College has gone from an idea on a blank piece of paper in 2001 to a competitive and nationally recognized program, with an astonishing increase in our applications to more than 4,000 this year for our 400 precious seats.
I hope you will join me in a virtual round of applause and thanks to the CUNY Board of Trustees and to Chancellor Goldstein for the support that they have given to the College—and for their confidence in our future.
Macaulay Honors College is indeed now a College!
