|FIO Partners - Fall 2009 Newsletter
On the east coast, the leaves have mostly fallen and there is a chill in the air. Fall is nearing an end...and winter lies ahead of us. The last few months were challenging for many of our clients as each faced difficult decisions - working to figure out how to deal with the on-going effort of maintaining services and programs in what continues to be a challenging environment. We are watching clients layoff staff, close programs, reduce services...these are not fun times. Jane wrote a fantastic piece for our blog though...that encourages all us to think of these difficult times as an opportunity, a way to improve what we do to increase our positive impact on our communities -- a new dawn. Our newsletter this quarter aims to share with you recent blog posts that you may find helpful, upcoming events and training opportunities, and project examples. Please let us know what might be most helpful to you!
Recent Project Work
We are often asked, what type of work do you do? What is organizational development? How do you help nonprofit organizations? We thought it would be helpful to provide you some examples of recent projects to give a better sense of our work.
Do you have a project or issue that you are struggling with? Do not hesitate to reach out to us to discuss what your organization is facing, whether near or far, through our use of webinars and collaborative technology we may be able to help. Just send a note over to email@example.com.
- Facilitation of Merger Process: Through a series of in-person meetings and webinars, FIO Partners facilitated the merger process for two nonprofit organizations that provided similar services. The process included 1) FIO Partner's Climate Survey in both organizations to assess cultural fit and 2) the development of the Memorandum of Understanding on which the merger plan was based.
- Strategic Plan Development: A client, with FIO Partners support, recently developed and finalized their strategic plan. FIO Partners played a major role in the gathering of information to support strategic decision making including: focus groups with staff, interviews with external stakeholders, trends analysis, financial ratio analysis, internal capacity assessment, Board and staff surveys, and assessment of information management.
- Network Development: FIO Partners continues to work with a number of groups of nonprofits who are interested in creating formal and informal networks that are service and regionally based. We provide facilitation support in order to develop and come to consensus on key governance issues and operating agreements.
