Dont’ stress about things you can’t change. Surround yourself with positivity and do things that support a positive mindset. All parents are encourage to attend this week’s BAC and PAC book club meeting. The book club is reading Michelle Obama’s memoir, Becoming. This memoir reminds us to keep striving and to remain positive in spite of our setbacks.

We are excited to share that our varsity robotics team competed in the Chicago league qualifier meet. They had an amazing performance. They got two first-place awards (innovate and control awards) and second place in the top award (Inspire award).
Their stellar performance has qualified them to move on to the state championship on Feb 24-25 in Elgin.
Estamos emocionados de compartir que nuestro equipo de robótica compitió en el encuentro clasificatorio de la liga de Chicago. Tuvieron una actuación increíble. Obtuvieron dos premios de primer lugar (premios de innovación y control) y el segundo lugar en el premio principal (premio Inspire).
Su actuación estelar los ha calificado para pasar al campeonato estatal el 24 y 25 de febrero en Elgin.
Course selection for sophomores will take place next week. Parents are encourage to talk with your students about their interests and goals for the future so they are prepared to make decisions about courses for the upcoming school year.La selección de cursos para estudiantes de segundo año se llevará a cabo la próxima semana. La Noche de Padres de ultimo año se llevará a cabo el miércoles 15 de febrero de 2023 de 5:30 p. m. a 7 p. m. Freshman Parent Night will take place on Thursday, February 16, 2023 from 5:30 - 7 pm. Each session will focus on a number of topics including the PSAT exam, college visits, financial aid, and the newest CPS graduation requirement known as Learn Plan Succeed.

Quarter 3 Progress Reports were distributed today during advisory. Parents are encouraged to review your student’s progress, help them to create a plan for improving their class performance and engage teachers for support.

Parenting Workshop and Potluck Luncheon - Thursday, February 16th, from 8:15-10 AM
This workshop will build communication skills by focusing on both what you say to your child and how you listen to them. You’ll learn what type of language will build trust and bonding opportunities to help motivate your child and provide them with a deeper sense of belonging to enable academic success and emotional well-being. The workshop will be presented in Spanish by Mr. Salvador Mora from Soy Familia; translation is available as needed.
Our Potluck/ Luncheon will take place after this session: If you would like, please bring something to share for breakfast or lunch with our parent community.

Aspen Parent Portal
Have you activated your CPS Parent Portal account? Do you need assistance with logging into your Parent Portal account? The CPS Parent Portal is a convenient way to check your student’s grade, attendance and establish a line of communication with teachers. Parents who utilize the portal can set up email and text message alerts about their student’s grade and attendance. Parents can email Assistant Principal Walker at slwalker@cps.edu to get support with your accessing Parent Portal accounts.

Civic Engagement
The City of Chicago Municipal elections take place on Tuesday, February 28, 2023. Chicago voters will have the opportunity to let their voices be heard by electing government officials, alderpersons, and police councils on this day. Early in-person voting will start on Thursday, January 26th at two voting locations in the city. Voting will expand to 50 additional site locations on Monday, February 13, 2023. Families are encouraged to use the link provided by the League of Women Voters to get detailed information on registering to vote, early voting, voting by mail and how to apply to become an election judge. 公民参与
