MISSIONARY
NEWSLETTER

Joshua Templeton

What's New?

The month of May flew by so fast, I feel like I just sent out my April newsletter. Our team has seen some setbacks this month, however, God has been faithful to work through each one of them for His greater purpose. The preparing stage for a missionary "to go" is not an easy process; so many unique circumstances to work through: mental, emotional, and physical challenges. Through all of it I have seen growth and maturity in myself, my leadership abilities, and desire to serve the Lord. I want to be emotionally, spiritually, and mentally healthy to be God's vessel on the mission field.

"In my short, but pleasant time of knowing Josh Templeton I see three outstanding qualities Josh carries that make him an effective leader for ministry: First, Josh is very passionate in all that he does, whether it is shopping at the store or disciplining those in need. The second characteristic I see is his drive for guiding others to Christ through teachings and example. The last but most important quality Josh possesses is his knowledge of the word. This helps Josh stay very rooted in his relationship with Christ, while meeting others where they are." – Alec Freytag (Youth pastor at Faith United Methodist)

Full-time missionaries struggle with staying busy while being back in the states. I have had to learn not to just sit around and wait but be proactive where I am at, and the season I am in. Like God's Word says in Ecclesiastes 3, "There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain, a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace." (NIV)

Kumwater Village - Amazing Grace Baptist Church
Since January, we have devoted a great deal of our ministry time in the little village of Kumwater. This church, Amazing Grace Baptist Church, has experienced more than its share of setbacks over the past several years.  The people are discouraged, and the attendance is down.  Most Sunday’s we are ministering to a small crowd of no more than 15-20 – but can we tell you, we are right where God wants us!  We are starting to see signs of life coming back.  Over the past several weeks 4 precious souls having given their life to Christ!  People who have been out of church are returning.  We will be launching a TTI (discipleship) training class this Month.  We are asking God to break the spiritual apathy in the community and to raise up men and women for God – please pray with us.

TTI (The Timothy Initiative) Training
In addition to the startup of TTI training in Kumwater, we expect to have TTI training active in several villages by the end of May.  We are confident of TTI training taking place in Kumwater, Whitewater, and Blackwater villages.  We are hopeful of training in 4 additional villages.  TTI, is an “obedience-based” discipleship training program.  Most Western churches have a “knowledge-based” approach to discipleship.  Obedience-based discipleship focuses upon equipping workers to share Christ and make more disciples from the very beginning.  Our TTI training will take us right into the July-August youth camp time, where we hope to see some of our new disciple-makers involved in the camp ministry.

What's Next?
My self and the other Grace Ministry members are all preparing to return to Guyana this summer for a month; some two, in order to host a small group for young adults and two week long youth camp from July 19th-23rd and August 2nd - 6th. It has been two years since we had camp, so the teens are ready to participate.

Prayer Points:

God’s wisdom and leadership moving forward.

For the youth camp to go smoothly.

For our team to raise the rest of their mission support and achieve partnerships with individuals and churches.
