Warm Welcome to our Family Educators

We are delighted to welcome over 100 Family Educators from Sydney Catholic Schools to our online community hub. We receive new registrations each week from parishes and dioceses, but let's all shuffle over to make room for this new influx of terrific pastoral ministers. Family Educators offer a rich contribution to the lives of families, schools and parishes, and you can find out more about them here.

Whether you are a new or existing member, please remember if  you are interested in engaging with a workshopper or exploring how your community can make best use of the resources available, please send an email to with your request.

Season of Creation and Safeguarding Focus

The Season of Creation commenced on September 1st and goes through to October 4th. Learn more about it here. And watch the workshop from Sue Martin and Catholic Earthcare (see Delve Deeper below) on how we can bring to life Laudato Si in our communities.

Child Protection Week is this week (5th - 11th September). Broken Bay Diocese is celebrating Safeguarding Month in September. Two workshops that offer richness in this space are:
  • Listening Circles is designed to provide a safe, equitable and sacred space for people to share how they have been impacted by the sexual abuse crisis in the Catholic Church.
  • Grow Safe Parishes offers how we can enable a safeguarding culture across parish communities, touching on the key aspects integral to igniting a ‘safe parish’ culture that reflects Christian values with a focus on community empowerment.

Wednesday 15 September 7.30pm (AEST)

Our Let's Have a Yarn runs for a bit over an hour, and offers an opening segment for a short catch up with four or five others in pastoral ministry. We then have the opportunity to join in one of three workshop focus areas, facilitated by one or more workshop presenters, to share your questions and wisdom around the following topics:
  • RCIA & innovative approaches to Sacramental Preparation
  • Family Ministry Support
  • Creating Community in a Virtual Space
Join us for our next session by registering here.
Thursday 9 September 2.00pm (AEST)

For our Delve Deeper Session, you have the opportunity to meet and share wisdom with Sue Martin, one of our workshop presenters, For this session, we recommend you view our workshop Bringing your Parish to life through Laudto Si'  in advance, and then bring your responses, questions and wisdom to the conversation.

Catholic Earthcare Australia (, a program of Caritas, is a place of dialogue to encourage ecological conversion across our parish communities. Laudato Si’ the 2015 environment encyclical is our inspiration. In this workshop, Catholic Earthcare share their change process to support parishes in their journey to an integral ecology.

Frequently Asked Questions
Am I able to download workshops to use with small groups?

We appreciate that in some settings, internet connections are not what we would hope. However, we also need to protect the intellectual property of those who have gifted us with their wisdom. For this reason, we are not making the videos downloadable as we would then lose control of the asset. Please reach out to the individual workshopper if you have a special request.

What happens to the site after December?
Many people want to offer a parish renewal in 2022, hopeful that their community will have emerged from the worst of the pandemic. We are currently exploring possibilities. Part of the challenge is the ongoing costs to maintain the website and the other consideration is honouring our commitment to our workshoppers to make the videos available to them after the end of the year. If you have any suggestions, please contact us.

Prayer is a surge of the heart, it is a simple look turned toward heaven, it is a cry of recognition and of love, embracing both trial and joy.
