Top 40 Over 40 of the Week

As the ASID National turns 40 this year, the Wisconsin Chapter is also celebrating our experienced and accomplished members age 40 and over. We'll feature one or more per week, culminating at our Annual Chapter Meeting. Meet...

NAME – Amy Wenger
YEARS IN THE INDUSTRY – Only 2 ½ years
PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT – Interior Investments, Milwaukee – A&D Strategic Account Manager
FAVORITE PROJECT – That would have to be a Skilled Nursing community in Denver CO that I worked on when I was at Direct Supply. This community’s common areas were in dire need of refreshing and cheering up. These common areas where never used as they were uninviting and downright scary! I was able to visit the community after the rehab was completed and to see the residents and the staff members enjoying the spaces was very heart warming and rewarding.
WORDS OF WISDOM FOR YOUR YOUNGER DESIGNER SELF – Why did it take so long to follow your dream??? Don’t be afraid to take risks and follow your heart. The road getting there may be filled with potholes and sharp turns, but never give up in the pursuit of your dream career and happiness! Think of those bumps in the road as life experiences.
WHAT ARE YOU READING? Don’t laugh…  “Post-Traumatic Brazilian Wax Syndrome” by Wisconsin author Tamara Lyon. It’s a funny, lighthearted summer read about an interior designer who lives in Lake Geneva, WI who lands a huge job for a crazy and demanding client. It’s about going out on a limb and taking risks to get what you want.
