A tintype, also known as a melainotype or ferrotype, is a photograph made by creating a direct positive on a thin sheet of iron coated with a dark lacquer or enamel and used as the support for the photographic emulsion. Tintypes enjoyed their widest use during the 1860s and 1870s, but lesser use of the medium persisted into the early 20th century and it has been revived as a novelty in the 21st.

ASID WI Sends Volunteer of the Year, Margaret Nedow, Allied ASID, to Design to Lead Summit!
At last year's Annual Meeting, we were pleased to award Margaret Nedow, Allied ASID
with our Chapter's Volunteer of the Year Award. Since the start of her professional career, Margaret has been a Chapter champion promoting upcoming events and recruiting new members. Bringing a positive attitude and “can do” determination, she has volunteered on not only the Holiday Planning Committee but also the Sponsorship Committee in 2012, 2013, and 2014. In addition, she is involved in several Membership Committees including the Emerging Professionals Committee.
In October of 2014, Margaret took charge of the Chapter's Sponsorship Committee - a very important task in that sponsorship is key to our Chapter's success. She demonstrates great leadership and a willingness to plan events in the best interest of the Chapter.
It is with great pride that as a Chapter we are sending Margaret to the Design to Lead Summit this April in Washington, D.C. This summit focuses on emerging leaders within ASID. Thank you, Margaret, for your dedication to the Chapter! You truly are a rising star!
Announcing the ASID CEU Race – A Chapter Competition
ASID practitioner members are required to fulfill the two-year 1.0 CEU credit (10 hours) requirement by the end of 2015. To help spread awareness around this membership requirement, ASID is introducing a brand new opportunity for chapters to stay engaged and earn prize money – A CEU Race.
The Chapter CEU Race begins now and will end on October 31, 2015 and the goal is to get as much of the membership to fulfill their CEU requirement by Oct. 31st as possible.
The chapter with the highest membership percentage to reach CEU compliance by October 31 will win $1000! And to sweeten the deal, if the percentage compliance of the winning chapter reaches over 85%, then the grand prize increases to $1500. This money will go back into a future program or programs for our chapter, so this is truly a win-win.
We are hard at work to give you as many opportunities as possible to fulfill your credits before this deadline, with the goal to make it easy for you and give us the fund to fuel another future CEU event.
