Re_Purposeful was wildly successful. We started Friday morning with 28,606 pounds of materials and by 2pm on Saturday we only had 2,485 remaining pounds. That means 26,121 pounds were Re_Purposed. The remaining materials will be wrapped up and stored for next year.
305 Creative Minds came to look through the materials. As we learn their stories and see what they have created we will share them with you. Make sure to like our Facebook Page
for all of the information and stay tuned for Re_Purposeful 2016!
Uniting to Break Interior Design Stereotypes
First Annual Mini-Golf Outing was a Success!
Thanks to all those teams and volunteers who joined us last Thursday at Tee-Aire in Brookfield. We had 10 teams, great weather and a lot of laughs! Based on feedback, we'll be planning another next year. Mark your calendar for August 2016!
The complete lack of understanding as to the value and skill of an Interior Designer was once again demonstrated recently in an article in The Federalist. We suggest you take a look and also read the well-crafted response
from Randy Fiser, CEO of ASID National.
ASID National advocates on behalf of all interior designers for licensure. Without these laws, interior designers are legally subservient to other members of the design team, such as architects and engineers. It is for this reason, that we encourage all members to become a Wisconsin Registered Interior Designer (WRID).
With you as a WRID, we will have a stronger presence and a bigger voice, to advocate for our profession and to accomplish even greater legislative goals that heavily impact our practice.
To clearly outline the importance and the path to professionalism in interior design, we have developed a step-by-step reference on our site. Be in the know. Visit the Path to Professional Status
Top 40 Over 40 of the Week
As the ASID National turns 40 this year, the Wisconsin Chapter is also celebrating our experienced and accomplished members age 40 and over. We'll feature one or more per week, culminating at our Annual Chapter Meeting. Meet...
Cynthia Glaeden-Knott, ASID
DO YOU HAVE A NICKNAME?
My parents loved the name Cynthia and had hopes I would love it as much. At a young age I started going by Cindy and even into my professional life, I have kept it. You may also hear some long-time friends and colleagues refer to me as “CB”; my initials from the past.
YEARS IN THE INDUSTRY:
31 years! I was a child prodigy and started my career in interior design at age 10.
PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT:
Design and Construction Manager at American Family Insurance. I have been at Amfam for 28 years.
I’ve had a lot of favorite projects throughout my career, but the one that was the most fun and unique was designing the interior of the company jet. It was a collaborative effort with the designers at Gulf Stream in Dallas; selecting everything top to bottom including the place settings.
WORDS OF WISDOM FOR YOUR YOUNGER DESIGNER SELF:
Preparation + Confidence = Success. AND don’t forget to build in time for YOU; do whatever makes you feel GREAT! These are words of wisdom for my older self, too.
WHAT ELSE WOULD YOU DO IF YOU WERE NOT AN INTERIOR DESIGNER?
A therapy dog handler and an Aurora chaser. An Aurora chaser is someone who studies the night skies for the northern lights and photographs these beautiful events. I aspire to do both of these activities when I retire someday.
