STRUT - Call to Entry
Deadline May 29th

Teams will showcase their fashions on the runway FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 18 amidst the lights, music, and festivities of Turner Hall in Milwaukee.  Get excited to celebrate our 5th year of STRUT Wisconsin to a theme of Cirque Carnivale and Color of the Year, Marsala! Proceeds raised will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Wisconsin.

FINE PRINT
Teams will sign up as a complete group (visit iidawi.org to register) and may consist of members within or outside the design community, professionals or students, but shall be no more than 5 people total including the model and industry collaborator (manufacturer’s rep).  The industry collaborator is an integral part of the team (and may only work with ONE team each), so utilize their product knowledge to help develop the team's vision in the most efficient, economical, and creative manner. The commitment of the industry collaborator (in addition to designing themselves!) is to assist the team with material provisions and solutions.

This year’s theme “Cirque Carnivale’ and event color “Pantone 2015 Color of the Year, Marsala” can be interpreted in any way the team desires (outfit, accessories, hair, makeup). Please note, the Marsala color DOES NOT have to be directly represented with the manufacturer’s product.

Registered teams will receive an information packet in June outlining key parameters, award categories, and a schedule of deadlines. If you are having trouble pairing up with a team (designers or industry collaborators) and would like the STRUT committee to help, please contact us via the email address below.

PARTICIPANT FEE
$250 fee for professional teams (up to 5 members), $125 fee for all student teams (up to 5 members, all members other than industry collaborator must be students or professors).  Payment must be received to finalize team entry and includes one ticket to the event for each team member up to five.

QUESTIONS
Contact STRUT Committee via strut.wisconsin@gmail.com or Sara Olm at 608.232.1380.

Top 40 Over 40 of the Week

As the ASID National turns 40 this year, the Wisconsin Chapter is also celebrating our experienced and accomplished members age 40 and over. We'll feature one or more per week, culminating at our Annual Chapter Meeting. Meet...

NAME - Emily Keon
YEARS IN THE INDUSTRY - 16
PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT - Henricksen
FAVORITE PROJECT – Carleton College, Northfield, MN.   It was my very first project as a mfg rep working with an interior designer, Lana (can’t remember her last name) from HGA Minneapolis.  I was able to learn the whole process of specification, design, delivery and installation.
WORDS OF WISDOM FOR YOUR YOUNGER DESIGNER SELF – Do not rely on words, only through actions can you gauge the true motives of others.
WHAT ARE YOU READING? – The Dream Manager & Flow.   Sometimes I need a break from the heavy stuff and enjoy a parable.

NAME - Nancy Mooney
YEARS IN THE INDUSTRY - 25 years
PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT - PDC Midwest, Inc.
FAVORITE PROJECT - I suppose I have favorite clients, not necessarily favorite projects.  My best client(s) will forever be my parents, who have challenged me with high expectations, unrealistic deadlines and crazy/fun design projects.
WORDS OF WISDOM FOR YOUR YOUNGER DESIGNER SELF - Work hard, make a difference, keep moving forward professionally and personally.
WHAT ARE YOU LISTENING TO? I listen to a variety of music, the joys of being a mother to teenagers. I have learned that my appreciation for all genres of music is progressing very slowly.
WHAT’S ON YOUR NIGHTSTAND? Home crashers would not be disappointed, this morning I noticed an artistic layer of dust on my black night stand.  I always have my IPad, new issues of Traditional Home and Architectural Digest.
WHO IS YOUR INTERIOR DESIGN INSPIRATION/ICON? I love the Nancy Corzine story… her determination, hard work, design and business philosophy are inspiring.
