Take advantage of the full day for self enrichment and CEUs, or attend just the morning or afternoon session.

Schedule of Events:
8 am – 11:30 am: What’s Next? Mini Conference - includes featured speakers Marjorie R. Barlow and Amy Lukken, discussing the hot topic of women in leadership, as well as a workshop to provide insight into you and your strengths. Registration includes the Gallup Strengths Finder test!

11:30 am – 1 pm: Lunch, networking and the Mount Mary University Interior Design Student Show

1 pm – 4:30 pm:  Skill-based education and CEUs as part of the Mount Mary Advocates Appreciation Day.

Seeking Volunteers to Judge the Nebraska-Iowa Chapter Awards
 
The Nebraska-Iowa Chapter is looking for volunteers from our chapter to judge their project awards.  They are requesting four judges per project.
 
The process is electronic so all of the judging can be done on a computer, and the judges do not need to be together. The categories for the awards are as follows:
 
1. Residential
- Singular Space
- Under 2,500 Square Feet
- 2,500-4,000 Square Feet
- Over 4,000 Square Feet
- LEED
 
2. Contract
- Corporate
- Healthcare
- Hospitality
- Retail
- LEED
 
3. Product, Furniture or Design Detail
 
4. Student Project
 
Finally, the judges will be asked to agree on their favorite project overall for the "Best of Show" Award.
 
Here are a couple dates to keep in mind:
June 1st - Submissions are due
July 15th - Deadline for judging to be completed.

The 38th Annual Design Excellence Awards Recap

The ASID Design Excellence Awards Gala took place last Thursday, March 20th at Historic Turner Hall Ballroom. The architectural detail and beautiful patina of the charred walls and ceilings in the ballroom was a perfect backdrop for the 38th Annual Gala, celebrating the most exceptional design in Wisconsin.

Twenty-four awards were presented, including one Platinum Award to Laura Vander Sanden, ASID, with Kahler Slater for the Global Water Center project in Milwaukee, WI.

We celebrated nine Silver and nine Bronze winners, in addition to five Gold Award-winners, including:

  • Patricia McGinnis, ASID of Potter Lawson for The Stream at Edgewood College, Madison, WI

Wanted: Part-time Freelance [that could turn into part time or full time employment] AutoCAD draftsperson, SketchUp artist, and production support person for retail-based interior design firm. Must be quick, accurate, and efficient in producing sheet sets of construction documents using AutoCAD 2013 on a Mac operating system. Be able to understand and draw building floor plans, elevations, and details. Strong SketchUp skills are also a necessity. Must be able to draw three-dimensional models with creativity, finesse, and speed. Pay your ASID dues monthly!

All practitioner members, upon joining ASID or when renewing, have the option of signing up for a monthly debit on their credit card. This will reduce the initial outlay of money and allows you to divide the overall dues amount across 12 months. You may sign up for this program either online or via the mailed invoice. There is an annual $25 service fee to use the monthly option and that fee is paid in the first month’s installment along with the legislative assessment as applicable. The debit will continue until you notify ASID in writing that you would like it to stop.

This juried exhibition of student work has been a Design Gallery tradition since 1992.  Now open to students throughout the University of WI-Madison campus, submissions will be from design based disciplines including Graphic, Interior, Textile, Apparel, Furniture, Theater Design and Landscape Architecture.

Throughout the year students in textile, apparel and interior design reserve their best projects to submit for review. At the Design Gallery we recognize the time and effort that students invest in their various projects and artistic endeavors. We welcome all work that is conceptual or functional, finished pieces, maquettes or representations.
