Net-Works: A Case Study of Inclusive Business
IDCEC, GBCI & AIA Credit
Credits: 1 LU/HSW
Net-Works provides a real time look at the benefits of an inclusive business model for sustainability innovation. Developed from like-minded, cooperative sustainable thinkers from several global organizations, Net-Works is working to eliminate the environmental impact of discarded fishing nets on oceans, increase access to post-consumer recycled materials, and improve financial livelihood for the world’s developing economies. Recovering valuable waste materials from ecologically sensitive areas has led to environmental, social and financial benefits. This presentation demonstrates the closed loop process that Net-Works strives to develop each day by tapping into the power of business to solve the world’s social and environmental problems.
We are so close to our goal of 20,000 pounds of materials. We can’t wait to share all of these materials with teachers, non-profits and daycares in the area. August 28th and 29th at The Green Design Center all of the materials will be available to pick up at no charge. Share the flyer
with the artists in your life, big, little, young, or old so they can find a Re_Purposeful way to use our discontinued samples.

Top 40 Over 40 of the Week
As the ASID National turns 40 this year, the Wisconsin Chapter is also celebrating our experienced and accomplished members age 40 and over. We'll feature one or more per week, culminating at our Annual Chapter Meeting. Meet...
- Dustin Struckmeyer; my only nickname is Uncle Dusty and there are just 5 people in the world allowed to use it.
YEARS IN THE INDUSTRY
- Interior Design Instructor at Madison College
- UW Tower at U Square
WORDS OF WISDOM FOR YOUR YOUNGER DESIGNER SELF
- Never ever assume that a product or material is available, in stock or current; new products may not yet be in production, manufacturing problems can lead to long delays or drops, and having to call a client and explain that something you showed them and they loved is no available is the worst.
WHO IS YOUR INTERIOR DESIGN INSPIRATION/ICON?
My hands down favorite is Sarah Richardson for residential design. I love her ability to layer color and pattern and all the other elements that make up a room.
WHAT ELSE WOULD YOU DO IF YOU WERE NOT AN INTERIOR DESIGNER?
- If I wasn’t an interior designer, I’d be a police officer.
Help Launch our New Chapter Magazine
Your ASID-WI Chapter is starting a new initiative - a chapter magazine! Do you have graphic design skills, or a passion for writing or photography? Put those talents to good use by volunteering. Planning is already underway, but the next meeting will be late July.

ASID WI “Top 5 Under 5” Awards – COMING SOON!
Are you an Emerging Professional who actively participates in the Wisconsin Chapter of ASID? Do you work with an extraordinary Emerging Professional who strengthens the creative working environment at your firm or business? As an Emerging Professional, do you create and take advantage of opportunities to support the interior design profession in the public realm as a passionate ambassador of your chosen career?
If you said “YES” to any of the above, take note! The Wisconsin Chapter of ASID is excited to announce that nominations for the ‘Top 5 Under 5 Awards’ will open July 21st!
The award recognizes the achievements of Emerging Professional Chapter members (designers in the first five years of their professional career). The ‘Top 5 Under 5 Awards’
celebrate EP designers’ outstanding contributions to the Chapter, to their businesses or employers, and to the larger design community.
Help us celebrate our Emerging Professional members by nominating yourself or someone you know for ‘Top 5 Under 5!’ Nominees from last year who still qualify are encouraged to apply again.
Look for more information in the weeks to come!
