Hey <<First Name>>,

Now, if you're like me, you might've been in huge disbelief with the US election results yesterday.

However, after the emotions subsided, reason and logic started to make its way back in. As flawed as democracy may seem from afar, for a large number of Americans, democracy spoke the "truth" for them this election.

To dive deeper into what I'm referring to, check out:
  1. Michael Moore's 5-point plan and original prediction about Trump's victory
  2. An anthropologist's view and prediction of what will happen next
  3. An entrepreneur's look at the bigger picture
Even though I'm not an American, as a global citizen, this decision has affected me in more ways than I could have imagined. However, life is full of ups and downs, twists and turns, victories and losses. Life will still go on.

As a global community, we need to start looking at the future again and making the best of what we got. Fear will not help the situation.

So, during times like this, it's important to reciprocate hatred with love, violence with compassion, and vitriol with kindness. And, we must even send our prayers to Donald Trump because, in the scheme of things, he has highlighted a deep wound (or division) that was already there in the US. He's in for a huge undertaking.

Trump is playing his "part", which reminds me of the famous Shakespeare quote: "All the world's a stage; and all the men and women merely players."

Peace and love be with you all this week ✌️
Until next time <<First Name>>, remember, it will come.

George

PS. As per usual, you'll find a recap below of some of the most popular content from the last week.

Whale is the latest app from Twitch.tv founder Justin Kan

// SOCIAL & TECHNOLOGY

I recently stumbled upon 🐳 Whale thanks to the premiere community for community professionals, CMX Hub. And, I got to say, I'm enjoying it. According to @stringstory, it's essentially Snapchat + Quora. Ask a question, get a snap-like video for an answer. It's bringing micro-video services to the fore, and I've already answered a few questions from new users! Add me here.

The 5-Minute Communitarian

// COMMUNITY & PHILOSOPHY

This 10-minute Youtube video goes through a philosophy known as "communitarianism." The reason the concept has got me intrigued is because it relates to the concept of individualism in relation to the collective (i.e. community). That the me needs the we in order to be. It's highly relevant with the rise in "sharing economy" businesses such as Uber, Airbnb, and more.

"Daring Greatly: How the Courage to be Vulnerable Transforms the Way We Live, Love, Parent and Lead" by Brene Brown

// RELATIONSHIPS

This book was gifted to me during the week - timely as the theme for November is "vulnerability." We all seek to connect. However, how deep we go depends on how vulnerable we're willing to be with another. This vulnerability also bears fruit in communities (i.e. trust). A highly recommended read for anyone looking to improve their relationships with others, or even themselves.
