Dear Friends:
Thank you very much for our most successful gala ever. All of our seats were sold out -- we had a packed house with more than 450 attendees! With your generous donations, we are able to start our thirtieth year with a record-breaking $160,769 to continue our march towards justice.
Our program reflected very well on our gala theme this year: "Live Righteously, Know Our Roots, and Live in Harmony."
- We honored Eliseo Medina who has shown the community how to live righteously through Fast for Families. In his inspiring acceptance speech, Eliseo reminded us that, together, we can make an impact in the years to come and he urged us to continue living out our motto.
- Our giving tree was a fun part of the program, helping us paint a literal picture of us as a grassroots, community-based organization. It also served as a reminder that our biggest support comes from our community.
- In a very heartfelt and personal speech, Colleen Taylor from Capital One shared how Capital One was inspired by us in our work striving to live in harmony with one another.
I want to thank you for your help in making the MinKwon Center for Community Action's Gala such a huge success. We hope that you join us in making our community's dreams a reality in 2015 and beyond.
We can keep the ball rolling. It's not too late to donate -- and no donation is too small! You can still use the link at bit.ly/minkwon30gala to continue building our movement together.
Thank you for celebrating with us!
