Who are the people of MinKwon? Dedicated volunteers, like those below, play a critically important role in making our work possible.
We would like to give special thanks and shout-outs to a few individuals this month:
“In the past several years I have been designing and making jewelry and donating proceeds to MinKwon. I appreciated immediately the important and valuable work MinKwon does for so many vulnerable people who would otherwise have no voice. It's been very educational experience for me, and I hope to stay involved!”
“At the Youth Empowerment Program, we learned about the Flushing West Rezoning Project and had the opportunity to hold a mock-public hearing. I testified as public school teacher and another classmate presented as a small restaurant owner! The activity helped me relate to the issue of rezoning and learn from the perspectives of various community members while putting my public speaking skills to use.”
Jinhee Yoo is a Junior at Stuyvesant High School, a Youth Empowerment Project participant and a volunteer.
“Beyond our duty as lawyers to perform pro bono services, this is ultimately about the people that MinKwon serves. The people at MinKwon are an exceptional group of professionals, and their passion has an unquantifiable impact on the community. I am eternally grateful to the MinKwon Center in allowing me to serve the community with them.”
Dukki Moon is an Associate at Linklaters LLP,
