Yesterday, Governor Cuomo announced that Dream Act would be excluded from the state budget.
"Passing the Dream Act would enable students like myself to not only better ourselves, but also to better the communities that we live in. We are tired of having our lives toyed with and we will not stop fighting until we see real leadership," said James Jeong, MinKwon's Dreamer youth and a junior at City College of New York.
We need our state's elected leaders - including Governor Andrew Cuomo, Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie, Senate Leader Dean Skelos - to stand up for New York's nearly 4,000 immigrant youth who graduate every year who can benefit from the NYS DREAM Act.
Right now, dozens of New York DREAMers are mobilizing a hunger strike that starts tonight to defend the DREAM Act. They need your help to keep DREAM in the budget.
Here's what you can do:
1) Please take 2 minutes to call Governor Cuomo, Assembly
Speaker Heastie, and Senate Leader Skelos to tell them that this year's budget must include the New York State DREAM Act.
