New Jersey Statewide Membership Forum

September 29, 2015, 7:00-9:00 PM
NJ Convention & Exposition Center
97 Sunfield Avenue, Edison, NJ  08837

We've all heard the saying, "you can't be what you can't see." This sentiment reflects the importance of trailblazers, role models and mentors in our lives. They show us what's possible, they set the bar of achievement and they encourage us – even challenge us – to leap over it. It is vital that girls with leadership aspirations have access to female role models who have already attained leadership positions. When girls see these examples of success with their own eyes, it helps them create achievable goals in their futures.

As leader of the entire Girl Scout Movement, Anna Maria Chávez, CEO of Girl Scouts of the USA, is one of those examples. Together with GSUSA's Executive Team, she guides the organization in the planning, development, and execution of initiatives and resources to benefit a diverse group of girls, volunteers and staff across the nation—and around the world.

Chávez is the first Latina to hold the top executive position in Girl Scouts. Her career journey began in Eloy, Arizona, where she first developed her business and leadership skills as a Girl Scout. She applied those abilities to her career and became an award-winning community leader, dedicated to public service and social engagement. Today, as a lifetime member of GSUSA, she is a champion for girls as well as a self-proclaimed cookie connoisseur. She’s also a proud mom, lawyer, and dance aficionado.

All New Jersey Girl Scouts, ages 14 and older, are invited to an up close and personal Membership Forum. This Statewide Membership Forum is a once-in-a lifetime opportunity created by the CEOs of New Jersey’s four Girl Scout councils. Those who attend will have the opportunity to ask questions and hear Anna’s personal story about the ambitions that sparked her desire to change the world and her vision to help more girls become leaders.  It’s an evening that no one dedicated to the Girl Scout movement should miss.
