Dear Zumberas and Zumberos,
Happy Halloween Everyone! Monday’s class, if you come dressed in your Halloween costume, you will get in FREE…Yes, no punches on your card….
In response to Halloween, there are NO classes on Tuesday. We have learned in the past that students like to stay home and trick or treat with their families. So enjoy yourselves and don’t steal all of their candy!
This Friday, you can try the new Strong By Zumba format. This is NOT a dance class. It is a high energy intervals class. There are 4 quadrants in the class: warm up, mid intensity, high intensity and then abs/pilates. Each quadrant does have modifications. For example: I cannot do burpees because I have vertigo. There is a slower way to do them and it's progressional. This is a fun workout and if you keep up with it and eat healthy, you will definitely see results in your body. Cheryl Wu Hall will be here to show you how its done. 7:30 is the class, so reserve your spot with $10. Sign up at the front desk or use paypal firstname.lastname@example.org (friends and family).
This weekend we had so much fun. Zumba Jammer Albert Enriquez was here from Abilene Texas. He gave our Saturday group a nice treat by leading 3 songs! Anyone wearing a pink top to celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness had a free class. And then we had our 3 hour instructor jam session where I learned 4 new routines and already put 3 of them in my playlist! I took him to dinner, massage and shopping afterwards!
Sunday Funday was my 90 minute Party in Pink class at 24Hr Fitness. OMG, it was so crazy and high energy. My Area Manager came and I thought I was at Beach Blanket Babylon! Headpiece and all, he made a grand entrance. Then he was blowing his whistle during class. The place was packed with about 90 students! Everyone was dancing for the cause! I had a special shirt made and it had the names of breast cancer survivors on it. You all should know Yukie and Grace. Yukie surprised us by showing up! Grace has subbed at the Studio when I’ve been away. Both are breast cancer survivors and we danced for them!
November 11th you can also be a part of breast cancer awareness. I am hosting a Party in Pink in Oakland (Fabiola Sanchez’s school). From 5:30pm – 7:00, come and dance with 3 Zumba Jammers!! Meli, Dorie and Ashley. This will be so much fun! These ladies will turn up the heat and the energy will be amazing. I hope you can join us. Carpool with someone and have a great time while donating to cancer research. I know breast cancer has touched someone you know. This is a way to help out.
Fitness/Health Advice: Breast Cancer Awareness
Ladies, if you haven’t yet, please make sure you visit your doctor and have a mammogram done. Women ages 40 should start to get them. Women 45-54 should get them every year. Women 55 and older can get them every other year or continue each year. Those of you younger, should at least do a self check. If you do not know how, then visit your doctor and have a consultation. Early detection is the key so if you think you discover a lump, check with your doctor. Don’t ever think it can’t happen to you. We all know someone…About 1 in 8 women (12%) will develop invasive breast cancer. That’s abour 252,000 new cases. It is the most common cancer in women worldwide. Let’s just be pro-active and smart.
It’s almost November and remember its turn your clocks back one hour at midnight Saturday!!
